A PARTNERSHIP TO DELIVER AN ENHANCED, QUALITY AND COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CARE SERVICE.

Oasis Home Care (part of the Oasis Group of Companies in Strand) has entered into a significant relationship with the Summervale Retirement Village and Lifestyle Estate. This relationship is a partnership wherein both parties have committed to the establishment and the provision of a comprehensive, hollistic and multi-disciplinary approach home based health care system.

Oasis Home Care was appointed as the sole provider of health care services to the Summevale residents. This marks a breakthrough for the Oasis management (Sr Tessia and Mr Leslie August). Their hardwork, perseverence and entrpreneurial drive has finally paid off. The comprehensive health care services consist of 3 fundamental basic health care packages that present a hollistic approach and is that founded on the Alma Ata Declaration of 1978.

1. Clinic health services - a walk in service to the residents, managed by a Registered Nurse.

2. A basic Primary Health Care (PHC) service, geared at providing preventative health services in the household environment of the resident.

3. A Home Based Health Care (HBHC) service. This service is tailored made and customized in line with the care needs of the elderly resident. A full and complete assessment approach is taken in that the resident undergoes a nursing assessment and an occupational therapy (OT) assessment. These assessments are mandatory as it informs the nursing services of the level of functioning of the individual and it provides valuable information in terms of the person's health and care needs. A team of quality trained, professional caregivers are assigned to provide individual, personal home based health care to the residents within the comfort of their homes . The team is managed by a Care Coordinator that in turn reports to a Care Manager. This team of nursing leadership is in complete control in making sure that the residents in their care receive the best level of care.
Other secondary wellness services that compliment the main services are:

* Exercise and Activity Club
* Nutritional Club
* Footcare and Facial sessions

These additional club services will address boredom, and loneliness. It is aimed at increasing the older person's dignity and self-worth. Improve their knowledge about nutrition, healthy eating and living a healthier lifestyle.
