"MALARIA BELT" . . . The map below highlights the areas across Southern Africa, including northern KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga, Swaziland and areas further north, which fall into the "Malaria Belt".

The Malaria Belt is comprised of areas in which malaria is endemic,. . . Ie. There is a high risk of being infected. This is largely due to climate and vegitation(eg. marshy, wetlands) in these regions which lends itself to the breeding of Anopheles mosquitos which are vectors for malaria.
