The holidays 🎅can be a joy-filled season,🎄but they can also be stressful and especially challenging for those impacted by mental illness.

For many people the holiday season is not always the most wonderful time of the year, however for individuals and families coping with mental health challenges, the holiday season can be a lonely or stressful time, filled with anxiety and/or depression.

If you’re living with a mental health condition, stress can also contribute to worsening symptoms. Examples: in schizophrenia, it can encourage hallucinations and delusions; in bipolar disorder, it can trigger episodes of both mania and depression.

Accept your needs. Be kind to yourself! Put your own mental and physical well-being first. Recognize what your triggers are to help you prepare for stressful situations.

❓Is shopping for holiday gifts too stressful for you?

❓Are family members too demanding and don’t respect boundaries?

❓Do you suffer from social anxiety?

❓What is making you feel physically and mentally agitated?

Once you know this, you can take steps to avoid or cope with stress.

Change is the only constant thing in this world. Just like seasons, life and people change too.

You get things the way you like it and then something beyond your authority bumps you off. You gain friends & family along the way, and lose a few too.

Everything is the result of change. There is nothing to question – As soon as we accept this, we will be relieved of all the pain that we think life as given us.

One must always remember that change is an imperative part of life. One just can’t do without it.🙏
