After a tragic drowning on Morgan Bay Beach, the community of Morgan Bay appealed to our station for assistance.
The day following the incident, was a training day for us. Two of our crew, View and Nadine did not hesitate when asked to assist on the beach. They selflessly gave up their Saturday to assist with keeping the public safe on Morgan Bay Beach. Thereafter two of our other volunteers stepped in for the remainder of the school holidays.

An appreciation message from Morgan Bay:
The Morgan Bay Community and Holiday Makers would like to extend their gratitude to the NSRI Station 47 Kei Mouth for their selfless will to render lifeguard duties on our beach for part of our June 2024 School Holidays.

This was put in place only after a tragic incident that resulted in a fatality on our beach.

Once again we would like to extend our gratitude to the two (2) lifeguards (Unathi and Mfundo) for their time and dedication to the NSRI as well as the general public.

We as a community will endeavour to work towards solving the problem of No Lifeguards on the beach during long weekends and school holidays, and will ensure all efforts are made
to have at least two (2) NSRI personnel on the beach during these times.

Part of our mission in saving lives on South African Waters is delivering and putting up Pink Rescue Buoys in our areas. Today Station 47 Station commander (Monica) and Deputy (Deborah) will be taking an adventurous trip to Boskobstrand to deliver and 'plant' a Pink Rescue Buoy in this remote location between Cintsa and Haga Haga.
