Happy New Year 2025!

As we step into a fresh year, let’s focus on seeing the world more clearly—literally and figuratively! Your eye health is an essential part of your overall well-being. Here are some resolutions to keep your vision sharp in 2025:

Get an annual eye exam. Even if your vision seems fine, regular check-ups can catch potential issues early.

Follow the 20-20-20 rule. For every 20 minutes of screen time, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.

Eat for your eyes. Incorporate foods rich in Vitamin A, Omega-3s, and antioxidants into your meals.

Wear UV protection. Sunglasses aren’t just stylish—they’re essential for shielding your eyes from harmful rays.

Practice proper screen hygiene. Adjust lighting, use blue light filters, and avoid staring at screens in the dark.

In 2025, let’s embrace a vision for healthy habits, clear goals, and brighter days ahead. Wishing you a year of clarity, comfort, and endless possibilities!

Take care of your eyes—they’ll take care of you!

Mandela Day is all about giving back to society. Part of this includes taking care of yourself.

Start today. Eat better. Move more. Get enough sleep. Relax your mind.

We need to prevent lifestyle diseases like Diabetes and hypertension. Aim for a healthy body, healthy mind, and healthy eyes.

While prevention is better than cure, early diagnosis and treatment is essential to prevent complications. Remember to visit your healthcare and eyecare professional for routine screening tests.

This week is World Glaucoma week. Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. Early treatment of glaucoma can prevent vision loss. January is glaucoma awareness month. Glaucoma is often called the silent thief of sight, because it does not cause any symptoms in the early stages.

The South African glaucoma society recommends:
"Regular Eye Testing is the only way to detect glaucoma before it causes damage to sight
●If you are over 40, you should have your eyes tested every two years, over 60 every year.
●If someone in your family has got glaucoma, you should have your eyes tested regularly. This is especially important if the affected relative was under 40 years of age when the glaucoma was first discovered. "
