Dear Members
The Wierdabrug CPF Sector 3 has received multiple complaints over the last 2 months of a scam and possible fraud.
*How the scam works*
You were unfortunate to experience a crime and reported it to your local police station. Once you receive the case number you get a phone call hours, or days later informing you that your stolen goods were recovered. You are then requested to pay for a courier fee to get your goods shipped to you. Another MO is to ask you for a fee to remove your vehicle/motorcycle from the stolen vehicle/motorcycle database to avoid being suspected as a criminal while driving your recovered vehicle.
*What you should do*
If you receive such call do not engage or provide any further information about yourself. Report the incident to your nearest police station and provide the details to the CPF S3 Emergency (WhatsApp) We re working with the local station to obtain as much information as possible to find the source of the scam.
This scam has been around for a number of years across the country and the MO changes almost daily to defraud unsuspecting individuals but we have seen a rise in our sector over December and January to date.
Please remain vigilant and safe in your day to day movement and report any suspicious persons, vehicles or situations immediate on this group or by phoning the CPF S3 emergency number on 0128840160 24/7.
Yours in Safety
