The 12 Magical Nights of Yule (also called the Twelve Nights, Rauhnächte, or Yuletide) are an old Germanic, Norse, and wider European pagan tradition marking the liminal time between the Winter Solstice and the New Year. This period was believed to exist outside ordinary time, when the veil between worlds is thin and fate can be read.
Traditionally, these nights run from Yule Night (Winter Solstice, ~21 Dec) to Twelfth Night (1–2 Jan), though exact dates vary by region.
