I’ve missed you all since I branched into coaching earlier this year, but I’m hoping you’ll follow me at Metta365 Coaching so we can stay connected!

I’ll not be posting here anymore so I’m hoping that when you get my “follow” request or see that I’ve followed you, you’ll do the same.

Yoga, breathwork, meditation, mindfulness - it all plays a major approach in my coaching approach as I believe that any process of personal or professional development requires more than just the mind’s involvement - our whole being needs to be part of the journey.

Get in touch for more info and hope we can stay connected on that page!

With love
Nicci

It’s not good bye, it’s see you soon..... or so I hope. As I officially move from “Yoga with Nicci” to my coaching + mentoring practice I want to take a moment to say a sincere and surprisingly emotional T H A N K Y O U to all of you that have been some of my biggest supporters along this path so far. It’s been rocky at times but I’ve never stopped believing in the power of this practice - not as some sort of magical panacea for all that is amiss, or as a cure all for anything / everything - but as a tool that can help us bring ease into the messiness of everyday life. I have tried my damndest to remain real, authentic and honest about my own humanness and vulnerabilities as I don’t believe in sugarcoating and I believe we all have a built in BS radar that can see through curated stuff anyway - you’ve all seen me at my most raw, and you have supported me and lifted me and loved me and carried me and celebrated me through it all, and in doing so, have allowed me to do the same for myself. And you thought that I was the teacher!!! No, it was you all that have taught me so very much about the strength and power of sangha - community - support - love - honesty - vulnerability - openness - being kind - supportive - believing in abundance - forgiveness - healing. Because you all ARE yoga - the embodiment of the ancient teachings, and though I have traveled to India and beyond to learn more advanced ways of teachings, my greatest learnings have been from you all. THANK YOU. I love you. I am grateful that you have taken me this far and I hope you will join me in my new venture, as coach and mentor at

My deep love of the yoga practice will continue to support and inform my coaching and mentoring, and I will continue to offer group pop ups, retreats, workshops and more, as well as online lessons moving forward, but for now, catch me online doing client-centered coaching interventions and watch the space at and on my soon-to-be-launched website www.metta365.com for more on these offerings, beyond lockdown.
// Stay safe, peeps. And thank you. And see you on the other side! 🙏🏽❤️🧡💛💚💜💙💖🤍

SHAKE IT OUT | Thanks to I was inspired to shake my way out of a day-long slump brought on by an overload of (mis)information, frustration at some peeps who seem to think they are somehow absolved from the need to be locked down (just stay home!!) and a lack of clarity / government directive on how to coparent through this time..... can we maintain two parental homes and move the kids between them or do we need to all be on the same erf if we both access to our precious kids etc etc? I have cried today, and lost my temper with my son (is it an 11 year old thing to leave all ones clothes on the floor?) but I have also blown eggs with my kids for Easter decorations, and swum in the pool with them. I felt overwhelmed at my inability to concentrate on work (my non-profit role) but I have played football with my son and straightened my daughter’s hair with her new curler. I did some homeschooling (really badly) with the kiddies and I organized home shopping for my folks so they don’t have to go out. So it’s been a mixed bag of emotions and I felt like crawling into bed early and just quitting on the day. And then I saw the shaking post during my dedicated 15 minutes of social media this evening, and so I shook too! Just before jumping in the shower. It felt so good to lift my energy, raise my vibrations (as us yogis like to say - the overused cliches are the best 🤪), to shake off all the stale stuff and to get my heart pumping and my lymph moving. Good for the body, mind and soul. Suddenly, the whole world seems like a friendlier place. Everything is going to be okay. Or, as said, everything is already okay. Sending love to all.

LOCK DOWN | How does everyone feel about this news? I’m a bundle of conflicting emotions.

Proud of our president for his decisive, bold action and how statesmanly he has been in both Covid speeches.

Concerned about how this will impact the economy and friends whose businesses are already folding.

Fear about the health of my kids, my immune-compromised mum post-chemo, and so many with underlying health issues all over the country and world.

Hopeful about how this drastic measure may save our beautiful country from complete devastation.

Sadness at not being able to see some of my special people for weeks.

Confusion about how my ex and I are going to be able to manage our two children between our two homes.

Nervous excitement at what it’s actually going to be like to not leave home unless it’s completely essential for food / meds for three weeks.

Morbid curiosity about how the pandemic is going to play out across the world.

Gratitude for my yoga and mediation practice and how it has kept me safe for years of self-imposed exile through recovery.

Devastation at our long-anticipated beach holiday with the kids being scrapped.

Delight at the thought of the world having a chance to reboot and for people to make lasting positive changes as a result of this unprecedented crisis.

A strange sense of comfort at how for the very first time it feels like the world is united against a common enemy.

Too much to make sense of right now.

So, I make tea and I breathe.

Tomorrow the sun will still rise.

Good night, South Africa, and the rest of the world.

How are you feeling tonight?

ALONE BUT NOT LONELY | The virtues of solitude have been extolled for centuries. As Pascal said, "All man’s miseries derive from not being able to sit quietly in a room alone."

Yet somewhere in the 20th century, the idea of solitude became confused with loneliness and both became something people learned to avoid. In fact, Susan Cain, author of the book, Quiet, blames the shift on the “Cult of Personality” which overtook our former emphasis on development of character. She argues that now our school and workplace cultures are so pro-extrovert that we’re discounting the value of introverts and the value of productive solitude.

This issue only seems to be more pronounced here in the 21st Century, as we all stay surrounded by the noise of always on smartphones with constant access to the cloud and everyone on it.

Sherry Turkle, a professor of science, technology and society at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and author of the book, Alone Together, wants us all to consider embracing solitude again, especially because of today’s always “on” digital culture. How interesting that many of us are finding ourselves in this situation at this unprecedented time in our lifetime on this planet...

“If we don’t have experience with solitude—and this is often the case today—we start to equate loneliness and solitude,” says Turkle, “This reflects the impoverishment of our experience. If we don’t know the satisfactions of solitude, we only know the panic of loneliness”.

Any other introverts embracing the feeling that perhaps the need for noise and being en-masse may shift to more tolerance of the quieter way of doing life? Source: “The Importance of Productive Solitude”

NEXT GEN | In this time of unexpected “homeschooling” where I’m still required to work and keep my house not looking like a total tip and not plug my kids into a screen to babysit them.... I don’t get everything right by any stretch of the imagination, but we do start the day by connecting with the earth, our fellow inhabitants, sometimes drawing a card from my meditation deck for inspiration, sometimes just doing a breathing or mindfulness exercise, sometimes writing down a word that we want to send into the world as a wish, sometimes drawing a picture. It’s such a phenomenal treat to not have to jump into the car and rush to school. Crazy times, wonderful times 🙏🏽♥️

INSPIRED | Three packed days of accredited coaching training has left me feeling physically exhausted, mentally stimulated, and professionally enthused, inspired and buzzing at how perfectly my life - and especially my yoga path - has prepared me for stepping into the role of a professional coach. This course comes straight off the back of my recent UCT / Foundation for Executive & Management Coaching course, and will be ongoing through the rest of this phase one and then two later this year, but I am R E A D Y. I’ll be moving away from this account... my will be the one to go to, but for now this one stays. Grateful for my yoga practice and the ability to go upside down against a tree to boost my brain and deflate my ankles after sitting too long! @ Constantia, Western Cape, South Africa

WOMEN | You are more than beautiful

I want to apologize to all the women

I have called pretty

before I’ve called them intelligent or brave.

I am sorry I made it sound as though

something as simple as what you’re born with

is all you have to be proud of

when you have broken mountains with your wit.

From now on I will say things like

you are resilient, or you are extraordinary

not because I don’t think you’re beautiful

but because I need you to know

you are more than that.
