Lost in the Clouds

🇬🇧 Another brooding, mist-cloaked mountain, standing like a forgotten titan, shrouded in a wistful embrace, because, of course, the world was in dire need of yet another moody, soul-searching landscape.

Captured on yet another hike, just before the storm swept in, as if the mountain itself was holding its breath, awaiting the inevitable. Can you feel the cold creeping in, slithering through the fog, whispering that winter is not coming, it’s already here ?

Another capture from my trip to the Dolomites (French version in comments)

A place that feels like stepping into a dream, with endless possibilities for discovery and creativity.

I went there hoping for dark, dramatic weather to complement the raw beauty of the landscape, but nature had other plans. Nevertheless, it was the only time I could get there, so I enjoyed every moment of the week I spent there. The days were warm, sunny and almost cloudless, a stark contrast to the cold nights.

Living in my unheated, poorly insulated van, I could feel the slightest chill. Every night I bundled up when the cold set in, grateful for my trusty -12°C quilt. Before dawn I was already hiking and scouting relentlessly, not only to explore and find perfect compositions, but also to warm up and get around. It was exhausting, yet somehow deeply rewarding. My days were numbered.

Today, back in the French Alps, the struggle continues with sub-zero nights. In fact, two days ago, my water pipes in the van were frozen. But these challenges remind me why I love this way of life, the raw, unfiltered connection with nature and the relentless pursuit of moments like this. After all, I love winter and the cold.

📍 Reflection and Sunset in front of Mont-Blanc

Last summer, when I hiked to capture the Milky Way, I didn’t have enough time to get the shot during blue hour, though I was thrilled to be up there. So, last weekend, I decided to head back for sunset, this time equipped with an ultra-wide-angle lens. The image you see here was taken at 10mm, with a slight crop during post-processing. It’s actually a focus stack of three images since I was very close to the foreground.

Two good friends, Audrey and Jerem, joined me for the hike, and sharing that moment with them made the experience even more special as we captured photos together.
