Floating, Smelly P**p? Here’s Why!
If you’ve noticed your p**p floating or smelling extra foul, don’t worry—it happens! While it’s usually nothing serious, it could be your gut sending signals about what’s going on inside.

Floating P**p:
P**p normally sinks, but if it floats, it’s likely due to excess gas. This can happen after eating gas-producing foods like beans, drinking carbonated beverages, or eating too quickly. However, if your p**p regularly floats, feels greasy, or smells bad, it might mean your body isn’t absorbing fat properly, a condition called steatorrhea. This could be related to conditions like celiac disease, chronic pancreatitis, or gallbladder issues. We can easily check this with a Hunter 3D scan.

Foul-Smelling P**p:
P**p doesn’t exactly smell like roses, but if it’s unusually foul, it could be due to what you’re eating or how your body digests food. High-fat foods or certain medications can cause a stronger odor. But if the smell is persistently bad and accompanied by symptoms like diarrhea, it could be a sign of malabsorption, infections, or digestive conditions like Crohn’s disease.

Greasy, Oily P**p:
If your stool looks shiny or leaves a greasy film in the toilet, it might be a sign that your digestive system isn’t breaking down fats properly. A common culprit is Giardia, a parasite often found in lakes or unpurified water. If this sounds familiar, we can test for it using the Hunter 3D scan and put you on an anti-parasite program.

When Should You Worry?
While occasional changes in p**p are normal, persistent floating, greasy, or foul-smelling stool—especially when paired with weight loss, stomach pain, or fatigue—can be signs of something more serious, like malabsorption or a gut disorder. A quick Hunter 3D scan can help pinpoint the issue and guide the next steps.

Decode Your P**p: What Color Says About Your Health
Let’s talk p**p—specifically, it’s color. While not a popular topic, the color of your stool can tell you a lot about what’s going on inside your body.

Brown is the usual shade, thanks to bile, but if you notice other colors, it might be worth paying attention. Green could mean food is moving too fast through your system, while black or red might signal something more serious, like bleeding. Yellow or pale stools could point to issues with bile flow or absorption or even parasites .

Keep an eye on those bathroom signals! If your p**p color changes, don’t ignore it—let’s do a Hunter 3D scan or chat with a healthcare professional to stay on top of your gut health.
So, if you see a change, it’s your gut’s way of giving you a heads-up! Book an appointment at www.inanortje.co.za

Is Your Gut Killing You?

Colon cancer is skyrocketing, claiming 400% more lives than AIDS and affecting men 35% more than women. It’s now the second most common cancer worldwide—and it’s showing up in younger people, too. Why? Blame it on processed foods, too much red meat, alcohol, unhealthy fats, and sugar, while most of us aren’t getting enough fiber, fruits, and veggies. Add in fad diets and the awkwardness around talking about constipation, and it’s a recipe for disaster!

Believe it or not, constipation and colon issues are way more common than people realize. You should be having a bowel movement after every meal—yes, that’s normal!—to keep things moving and prevent toxins from building up. But most people are lucky if they go once every two days...or even once a week! Feeling bloated, gassy, having gallbladder issues, or getting heartburn? If you're not going at least once a day, your digestive system might be in trouble.

Ignoring these signs can lead to more than just discomfort. Over time, it could cause ulcers, nutrient deficiencies (like low iron), and problems with your gallbladder, liver, or pancreas—and yes, even colon cancer. When toxins build up in your colon, your body starts to rebel with fatigue, sinus issues, skin breakouts, weak immunity, mood swings, and stubborn weight gain.

5 Tips to Improve Sleep and Digestive Health.

1. Avoid Overeating Before Bedtime
Large meals right before bed can disrupt sleep and digestion, increasing the risk of heartburn. Try to have your last meal at least 2-3 hours before bedtime.
2. Manage Stress
Stress can wreak havoc on both your sleep and digestion. Incorporate relaxation techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or listening to calming music to reduce stress levels.[
3. Exercise Regularly
Physical activity improves sleep and supports digestion by reducing stress, improving bowel movements, and reducing the possibility of gut issues.
4. Nutrition for Gut Health
Incorporate Fiber-rich and probiotic foods like yogurt, and fermented foods like kefir, garlic, wheat, barley, beans, and berries into your diet. These foods support the growth of valuable gut bacteria and promote a healthy digestive environment. Research shows that high-fiber food controls the hormone ghrelin by limiting sugar absorption and favors the growth of good gut bacteria. The positive swing on this is that sleep quality improves. ]
5. Stay Hydrated
Drinking 30 ml of water per kilogram of body weight, daily to supports digestion and prevents constipation. However, avoid drinking large amounts of water right before bed to prevent sleep disruptions caused by frequent urination.[26]

Melatonin, the sleep hormone may be related to Acid Reflux.

Melatonin, the sleep hormone, plays a role in regulating digestion. Low melatonin levels can disrupt sleep and potentially contribute to GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). Some GERD patients use melatonin supplements to improve sleep and reduce symptoms.

Dietary choices are affected by sleep deprivation

When you're sleep-deprived, hormones that regulate hunger can go off balance, leading to increased appetite and cravings for unhealthy foods like processed carbs, sugar, and trans fats. These choices negatively impact both your gut and overall health.

Heartburn, GERD, and Acid Indigestion

Sleep disturbances or deprivation can have a significant impact on your gut health, potentially triggering conditions like GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), heartburn, or indigestion. Symptoms of these conditions may include:
• A burning sensation in the chest
• Regurgitation of food or sour liquid
• Discomfort in the upper abdomen
• Difficulty swallowing (dysphagia)
• Feeling a lump in the throat

Lack of sleep increases the likelihood of reflux, a condition called reflux hypersensitivity. This happens when the oesophagus becomes more sensitive to acid. The relationship between GERD and sleep is two-way: not only can GERD worsen with sleep deprivation, but it can also disrupt your sleep by waking you up at night.
