On Friday, 10 April Gen-la Jampa and Gen-la Sangden become the new General Spiritual Director and Deputy Spiritual Director of the NKT-IKBU respectively

Gen-la Kelsang Jampa
is a senior NKT teacher, Gen-la Jampa has been a student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for many years, and under Geshe-la’s guidance has taught at many centers and events around the world.

Gen-la is well-loved for his clear and inspiring teachings and his ability to touch people’s hearts through his sincerity and loving-kindness.

Gen-la Kelsang Sangden
Gen-la Sangden is the Deputy Spiritual Director of NKT-IKBU, and is the National Spiritual Director of Kadampa Buddhism in Mexico, Colombia, Nicaragua and Peru, and the Resident Teacher at KMC Mexico.

She is admired by many for her good example and her loving and clear advice. She has practised and taught Kadampa Buddhism for over 25 years.

We look forward to welcoming her to South Africa soon where she will teach ‘Following in Buddha’s Footsteps’, the South African National Kadampa Festival 2026, held here at KMC Durban.

Nyungnay
Purification Retreat

Nyungnay is one of our most precious Kadampa Dharma Jewels and as a centre practice we do it once a year.

Wrapped within the practice of
‘Mahayana Precepts’, it involves fasting and making 3 sessions of prostrations, with the sadhana ‘Drop of Essential Nectar’!

We spend two days with thousand-armed (eleven-faced) Avalokiteshvara - Mahakaruna’ - the nature of our Guru’s great compassion, making exquisite offerings, praises and prostrations and thereby accumulate huge merit, purify vast negativity for ourself and others and receive the most powerful blessing to propel ourself swiftly along our path to enlightenment.
