Our Brave Girl: Strength Through the Hardest Days 🌻✨

Dear family and friends 🤍
We wanted to share an update on Leané as she moves into this next, more intense phase of her journey. It has been a heavy few days, but through it all, Leané continues to show us what true courage looks like.

On Monday, she began receiving daily injections to help stimulate her bone marrow. These are a vital part of the preparation for the stronger chemotherapy she will face leading up to her bone marrow transplant. On Tuesday, things were even tougher—Leané underwent an IT (intrathecal) treatment, where chemotherapy is administered directly into the spinal fluid.

Because the procedure was done without sedation, it was incredibly painful. For our girl, who has always been afraid of needles, it was an especially difficult and emotional experience. But even in the middle of the pain and the tears, she wasn't alone. As you can see in the photo, she has her favorite plushie right by her side, offering her a little bit of extra comfort and a soft place to lean when things get hard. 🧸🧡

The Good News:
Despite these challenges, we have so much to be thankful for! Leané started her 4th round of chemotherapy on Tuesday, and we are incredibly grateful that her blood counts are still looking very good. The doctors are amazed at how strong she has been and how well she has handled everything up to this point.

Her Light Still Shines:
Though the road ahead is getting steeper, Leané hasn’t lost her light. Between the injections and the difficult moments, she still finds reasons to be silly, to laugh, and to make everyone around her smile. Those little flickers of her personality remind us just how resilient her spirit truly is.

Thank you for every prayer, every message, and every bit of support. It carries us more than words can say. Please continue to lift her up as she navigates this round.

*Home Sweet Home: Filling the Tank 🌻🏡*

On Wednesday, our Leané made her way back home to White River for a much-needed break.

After all the rounds of treatment and the long days in the hospital, there is truly no place like home to rest, recover, and simply "be." This time at home is all about filling her tank—spiritually, emotionally, and physically—to prepare her for the next phase of this journey. We are soaking up every moment of quiet, every song, and every bit of home-cooked love.

We serve a God who promises rest to the weary, and we can feel His peace surrounding our home right now. 🕊️✨

*An Update on Leané 🌻*

We are overflowing with gratitude today! Leané has now officially completed her third round of treatment, and we are so blessed to share that she is making incredible, positive progress.

Throughout this round, her blood counts have remained consistently strong—a true answer to prayer. In fact, she didn't require any post-chemotherapy intravenous antibiotics or fluids, which is such a wonderful relief.

We are currently in the third week of her recovery phase. Usually, this is a time when counts would be expected to drop significantly, often leading to complications like fever or infection. Instead, her doctors are genuinely pleased and impressed that her counts have remained stable and that she continues to do so well. Leané is showing such incredible strength and resilience through every step of this journey.

To make this news even sweeter, we have been blessed with the opportunity to spend a few days at home in White River. The joy of being in our own space is something that means more to us than we can even put into words. 🏠✨

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for every prayer, message, and act of support. It carries us through the hardest days more than words can say. We serve a faithful God, and we see His hand in Leané’s recovery every single day.

*The Warrior’s Spirit 🛡️✨*

They say nothing tastes as good as your favorite snack on a hard day—and right now, we’re finding comfort in the simple things, the little smiles, and the unwavering strength of our girl.

Leané’s journey has had its ups and downs. Her hair began to grow back, only to start falling out again—a tough reality to navigate. But look at her. Look at that face.

Don’t you think a shaved head suits her perfectly? To us, it doesn’t look like loss; it looks like pure, unfiltered courage. She is a warrior in every sense of the word, carrying this cross with grace, humor, and a heart that still finds reasons to be happy.

She is beautiful, she is brave, and she is our inspiration. 🧡

Please keep holding Leané up in your prayers as she continues this fight. Your love is the ultimate snack for the soul, and we are so grateful for each one of you walking this path with us.

*Faith, Strength, and a Marathon of Love on how far love can travel!*
We are feeling so incredibly moved and blessed.

This past weekend, a dear friend of ours in the UK, Naudé, showed his incredible support for Leané in a truly special way. While running the Paris Marathon, he carried Leané’s name right there on his arm, bringing her story and her fight to the streets of France. 🏅🇫🇷

As Leané continues her journey with AML, moments like these remind us that she is never running this race alone. Whether it’s across oceans or right here at home, the outpouring of love, prayers, and solidarity keeps her spirits high.

We serve a God who knows no borders, and seeing Riaan honor Leané’s strength on such a global stage is a beautiful testament to the power of friendship and faith.

Leané Update 🌸

Our brave Leané continues to inspire us every single day.

Today, Leané practiced some exercises with her sensei – with a smile and a strength that can only come from above ✨

We are incredibly grateful to also share some good news:
Dr Nkabi informed us today that three perfect bone marrow transplant matches have been identified for Leané 🙏🏻
The process is currently underway to confirm everything with the marrow donors and to make the necessary preparations. We will receive further feedback as soon as everything is ready.

Leané’s third round of chemo is going really well, and she has already been disconnected from her drip — something that has never happened so soon after treatment before. They will be doing some tests tomorrow, and we pray to our Almighty God for even more wonderful news.

Our hearts are full of gratitude and hope.
