“10 Lessons from 10 Years” across Women in Global Health, KUPES Young Womens Network KUPES, and motherhood (being Jothams mum).

This year 2 of my favourite platform turn 10 years. And my humanbeing turns 10 years old a very rare moment for me, so I share this mix message in no particular order that iv learnt as iv interacted with this space;

1. You hold the pen in your hands, rewrite that story.
2. Men are allies not competitors.
3. Show up in your authentic you.
4. Nothing is interesting if your not interested.
5. You cannot understand leadership unless your serve.
6. Women too cause injustice to other women, choose to do good.
7. Sisterhood is what the platform brings, but you have to be a sister to expirience.
8. Choose what's right for your children.
9. Never fight over children.
10. Prayer anchors life, so pray in all situations.

*Living life on life’s terms*

‘Do not fear, for I am with you…I will strengthen you and help you.’ Isaiah 41:10

When you learn to forgive and accept yourself, it means you have come to terms with your humanity and learned to be at peace with your imperfections. You realise that what you have been through, together with the grace of God, has made you the person you are today.

Veronica Shoffstall said: ‘After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul…that love doesn’t mean leaning, and company doesn’t always mean security…that kisses aren’t contracts and presents aren’t promises, and you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes ahead, with the grace of [an adult], not the grief of a child, and you learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight. After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much, so you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. And you learn that you really can endure, you really are strong, you really do have worth…’ Those words can be summed up in one phrase: ‘living life on life’s terms.’ Is it easy to do? No. And on days when life’s terms seem too hard to cope with, God’s promise to you is this: ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.’ And that’s a promise you can stand on!

Once upon a time! Time Time Time never ends. While your problems take long in due time they will end and in the same time you will have good times. Hung on Su***de is no solution for temporary issues.

Networking Tip:

Beyond “Tell Me About Yourself”

The old icebreaker “Tell me about yourself” is slowly fading, especially on platforms like LinkedIn where your profile already tells part of your story. Instead, expect questions that go deeper and help uncover alignment, such as:

* What’s the most exciting project you’re working on right now?
* What inspired you to choose your current path?
* What kind of opportunities or connections would be most helpful for you at this stage?

As a mentee, be prepared with short, clear responses that highlight your goals and values.
As a mentor, encourage mentees to practice framing their journey as a story with a direction, not just a CV.

Networking isn’t about repeating your profile—it’s about making connections feel personal, purposeful, and memorable.
