During a pain crisis as a sickle cell warrior,
I have observed severally that the body is malleable and fragile to the pain crisis,
Such that anything that can exert pressure on any part of your body when you rest or position that part of the body on it,
It can cause a pain crisis on that part of the body.

For instance, if the pain crisis affects the legs when it starts,
If you rest or lay your back against an object,
And the object exerts pressure on your back,
You can have the pain crisis on the back too.

However; the pain crisis will end,
And God will restore us to wholeness,
In the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.

I was on hospital admission and was trying to distract myself by reading a novel on my phone.

When the pain becomes so unbearable and the distraction wasn't working I called on the nurse in charge and guess what he said?

You are in pain and you still have hand to hold phone and he left.

I was only attended to after his duty time was over by another nurse.

When you cry 😭😭 some of this nurse would say you should have gotten used to the pain.

Most sickle cell warriors, their family members, and caregivers have stories of things or opportunities lost,
Due to living with sickle cell disorder or caring for sickle cell warriors,
Our lives are filled with some or many of those stories of misses, loses, or delays,
But God will remember us and restore all to us,
In the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.

As sickle cell warriors, we have bottled many experiences of sickle cell crises, complications, conditions, abuse, and stigma that we cannot voice out to others.
A support group is a good place to empty and share them with others of same and similar experiences.
This can help to bring healing and comfort to our mind.

Learn to view crisis as a woman views labour. After the pain let sunshine come into your life. Develop a thick skin to peoples opinion about your longeivity, ive outlived a lot of those who thought ill be long gone. Never be angry with yr parents or those caring for u. They also have their frustrations seeing u in agony so much agony. Learn this most important lesson, think that your tomorrow is gonna be great.
Common, will urself to live.

There is something called Pica in sickle cell.

Pica makes people living with sickle cell craves for non foods items like chalk, paper sand, charcoal and more.

The first time my mum saw me eating charcoal, she was shocked, angry , disappointed at me. She felt I was truly possessed like they said if not why would I eat charcoal of all things? Hmmmm

She flogged the hell out of my body in hope to beat the demon out of me . I saw my disappointment on my siblings faces.
I hated myself but I tried so hard not to eat it but there was I couldn't understand something that kept pulling me back to eat it. When that cravings start, I must look for it. The beating, the insults, the flogging never stopped it, I hid and eat to my heart content
