The Zambian Security Industry
Acts of terrorism and criminal activities are all risks that security operatives are employed to deal with. They are therefore, expected to have many skills in order to protect their client and the client's interests. Currently security operatives within the Zambia civilian market are literally offered positions without any formal training, character screening or vetting. Their lack of formal training could also place themselves or others at risk of sustaining serious injury and even death. Security operatives must have an understanding of their roles and functions and complement these with health and safety, first aid, fire prevention and other requirements. Assignments can vary from routine security duties to executive and VIP protection and from counter surveillance and investigations to combating industrial espionage. It is vital therefore that skills, techniques and tactics complement each other. More advanced students will be taught techniques in fighting white collar criminal offences (Corruption) in the private sector and how to conduct private investigations in accordance with national legislation, practices and procedures. Needs Analysis
The private security industry is a major player in the economy. It is utilized by both government and private companies. There are many registered private security companies employing thousands of personnel, yet a training academy stands conspicuous by its absence in this sector. Training for the sector will be done in a manner that can enhance professional competencies to meet the challenges of a cosmopolitan society which is modern day Zambia. Private security challenges that Zambia currently faces can only be tackled by personnel who have undergone a thorough training program. EXIM is therefore a welcome dawning of a new beginning in the professionalization of the private security sector. With the collaboration of experienced British security personnel, EXIM is committed to bringing expertise to the Zambian private sector and adding value to your security. EXIM intends to target and design bespoke training courses for men and women intent on seeking employment in commerce and industry and will be tailored where necessary to meet specific needs such as:
