WHAT IS THE BEST AGE TO START HAVING CHILDREN

Medically:

20–32 years (highest fertility and lowest complications).
Risks increase after 35 years, including conditions like Down syndrome and Preeclampsia. This is more pronounced in females but males above 50 years also have reduced s***m quality but not as significant as female factor.

Financially/socially:

Many people are more stable in their late 20s to mid-30s.As the saying goes women have a biological clock whilst men have a financial clock, with many waiting till they are financially stable to raise a family.

Mini-period/menses in Neonatal Girls (Neonatal Uterine Bleeding)

A mini-period/menses in a newborn girl refers to a small amount of vaginal bleeding that can occur within the first few days of life. It is also called neonatal uterine bleeding.

🔎 Why does it happen?
During pregnancy, the baby is exposed to high levels of maternal estrogen.

After birth:

The supply of maternal estrogen suddenly stops.

This causes withdrawal of estrogen.

The baby’s endometrium (uterine lining) sheds slightly → leading to light vaginal bleeding.

This is similar to how menstruation occurs due to hormone withdrawal.

🕒 When does it occur?
Usually 2–7 days after birth

May last 1–3 days

Bleeding is typically very light (spotting or blood-stained discharge)

📌 Is it normal?
✅ Yes — it is physiological and harmless.
It does not mean:

Early puberty

Hormonal disorder

Sexual abuse

It is a normal newborn phenomenon.

Condoms That Change Colour When They Touch STIs

These are Not Available Yet on the market but the idea of condoms that change colour on contact with s*xually transmitted infections (STIs) was proposed.

🧪 The Concept: S.T.EYE Condom
In 2015, three British students from the Isaac Newton Academy in the UK came up with a design called the S.T.EYE condom:

It’s a conceptual “smart condom” that would be coated with special molecules or antibodies that react with proteins (antigens) from STIs.

When an STI antigen is present in bodily fluids, the condom would, in theory, change colour to indicate which infection might be present — for example:

🟢 Green for chlamydia

🔵 Blue for syphilis

🟡 Yellow for herpes

🟣 Purple for HPV
(These colour codes were part of the original concept, not a finalized product.)

They won an innovation award and attracted some interest, but the product has not been developed into something you can buy or use yet due to complexity and different strains of these s*xually transmitted diseases.

What do you think would it be cool to have such condoms on the market??

Ocular Albinism

Ocular albinism (OA) is a genetic condition(mainly in males with women being carriers) characterized by reduced or absent melanin pigment in the eyes, while the skin and hair may appear normal or only slightly lighter than family members. It mainly affects vision, not overall health.
The main sign seen is eyes being of different colour usually blue or green that females usually find attractive.

Clinical features

Reduced visual acuity (usually 6/18–6/60)
🔹 Nystagmus (involuntary eye movements)
🔹 Photophobia (light sensitivity)
🔹 Strabismus (squint)
🔹 Foveal hypoplasia
🔹 Normal or near-normal skin and hair color

PHYSIOLOGY OF LOVE

Love can be divided into three stages, each with different physiological mechanisms:

1. Lust (Sexual Desire Stage)
Driven mainly by s*x hormones:

Testosterone (in both males and females) and Estrogen(females).

Physiological Effects:
- Increased libido
- Increased heart rate
- Ge***al vasocongestion
- Increased sympathetic nervous systemic like palpitations, sweating and anxiety

2. Attraction (Romantic Infatuation Stage) :
This is the “falling in love” stage. It involves reward pathways in the brain, especially: Mainly under the influence of the hormones ;

- Dopamine – pleasure and reward
- Norepinephrine – excitement, alertness
- Serotonin – decreases (similar to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder patterns like clingy behaviour)

Physiological Effects:
Palpitations

- Sweaty palms
- Reduced appetite
- Insomnia
- Increased energy( feeling like u can conquer the world)
- Obsessive thinking including dreams of the person similar to wat drug addicts face

3. Attachment (Long-term Bonding Stage) :
This stage promotes long-term relationships.

Key Hormones:

- Oxytocin – bonding hormone (released during hugging, s*xual activity, childbirth)

- Vasopressin – promotes pair bonding and protective behavior like not allowing your woman have a bestie or wear shot things and sense of your man's female friends wanting him.

Physiological Effects:

- Feeling of calm and security
- Reduced stress (lower cortisol)
- Emotional stability
- Strong emotional bonding

WHICH STAGE HAS YOUR LOVE REACHED.

🧭 Pillars (Principles) of Medical Ethics

1️⃣ Autonomy
Respect the patient’s right to make their own decisions

Requires adequate information, capacity, and voluntary choice

Includes informed consent and the right to refuse treatment

📌 Example: A competent patient refusing surgery—even if it may save their life.

2️⃣ Beneficence
Act in the best interest of the patient

Promote good, prevent harm, and improve health

📌 Example: Giving appropriate treatment to relieve pain and suffering.

3️⃣ Non-Maleficence
“Do no harm”

Avoid causing unnecessary injury or suffering

📌 Example: Not prescribing a drug when the risks outweigh the benefits.

4️⃣ Justice
Fair and equitable distribution of healthcare resources

Treat patients without discrimination

📌 Example: Equal access to care regardless of gender, wealth, tribe, or status.

WELCOME TO KABWE BA JAN 2024 INTAKE

The Bible teaches that skills and knowledge come from God:

“Every good and perfect gift is from above” (James 1:17).

REMEMBER: Using wisdom to preserve life aligns with God’s will:

“Plans succeed with good counsel” (Proverbs 20:18).

Atleast you know how to pose for group photos 😂

WHAT AND WHAT NOT TO DO AFTER BEING BEATEN BY SNAKE

Pressure Immobilisation Technique (PIT) — used in snakebite first aid, especially for neurotoxic/lymphatic-spreading venoms (e.g. elapids like cobras, mambas, coral snakes).

🎯 Aim
To slow the spread of venom via lymphatics (not blood vessels) until definitive care is available.

✅ Indications
Suspected bite by neurotoxic snakes

Unknown snake but no severe local swelling

Most useful for elapid bites

⚠️ Not recommended for bites with significant local tissue damage (e.g. many viper bites).

🪢 Steps of Pressure Immobilisation Technique
Reassure the patient

Keep calm → movement increases venom spread

Do NOT wash the bite site

Venom on skin may help in snake identification

Apply a firm pressure bandage

Use elastic/crepe bandage

Start over the bite site

Wrap distally to proximally (like for a sprain)

Pressure should be firm but not tight

✔️ Fingers/toes should remain pink and warm

❌ No tourniquet

Immobilise the limb

Splint the limb

Keep it still and below heart level

Keep patient lying down

Avoid walking or unnecessary movement

Transport urgently to hospital

Do not remove the bandage until in a medical facility with antivenom ready

❌ Do NOT
Cut or suck the wound

Apply a tourniquet

Massage the bite

Apply ice, electricity, herbs, or chemicals

Give alcohol or traditional remedies
