💙 March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Colorectal cancer affects the colon or re**um and is the 3rd most common cancer worldwide, responsible for about 10% of all cancer cases. It is also the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally.

📈 The risk increases after age 50, but cases are rising among younger adults in some countries. Early stages often have few or no symptoms, which makes awareness and screening important.

Possible warning signs include:

🩸 blood in the stool
🥲 persistent abdominal pain or bloating
📉 unexplained weight loss
🥱 fatigue
💩 changes in bowel habits

The good news? Many cases can be prevented or detected early.

🥦 Eat more fruits and vegetables
🏃 Stay physically active
🚭 Avoid to***co
⚖️ Maintain a healthy weight
🍷 Limit alcohol

If symptoms appear, talk to a health professional early. Detecting colorectal cancer early greatly improves survival.

🌼 March is Endometriosis Awareness Month.

Did you know that 1 in 10 women of reproductive age live with endometriosis?

❤️‍🩹Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, causing inflammation and pain.

Symptoms can include:

💥 severe period pain
🩸 heavy bleeding
😣 chronic pelvic pain
🤰 difficulty getting pregnant
🤢 bloating and nausea

For many, it affects daily life — from school and work to relationships and mental health. Yet diagnosis can take 4 to 12 years on average, because symptoms are often misunderstood or dismissed.

🏥 While there is currently no cure, treatments such as pain medicines, hormonal therapy and sometimes surgery can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

What can help?

🔹Learn the symptoms
🔹Talk openly about menstrual health
🔹Seek medical advice if pain disrupts daily life

Greater awareness and earlier diagnosis can make a real difference.

DIABETES IS CAUSED BY EATING TOO MUCH SUGAR — TRUE or FALSE?

FALSE. Eating too much sugar alone does not directly cause diabetes.

Diabetes is a condition where the body has problems controlling blood sugar because insulin is not working properly or is not enough. There are different types of diabetes, and they do not all have the same cause.

Type 1 diabetes is caused by the body’s immune system attacking the pancreas. The pancreas then fails to produce insulin. This type of diabetes is not caused by eating sugar or unhealthy food. It can happen to children or adults and requires insulin for life.

Type 2 diabetes, which is the most common type, develops when the body becomes resistant to insulin or does not make enough of it. This is linked to factors such as being overweight, lack of physical activity, family history, and unhealthy eating habits over a long period of time. Eating a lot of sugary foods can lead to weight gain, and weight gain can increase the risk of Type 2 diabetes. This means sugar plays an indirect role, but it is not the only cause.

Gestational diabetes occurs during pregnancy due to hormonal changes. It is not caused by sugar intake, although healthy eating helps control blood sugar during pregnancy.

The idea that diabetes is caused only by sugar is a myth. This belief can be harmful because it blames people living with diabetes and ignores other important risk factors. Diabetes is a medical condition, not a punishment for eating sugar.

However, eating too much sugar is still unhealthy. Excess sugar can cause weight gain, raise blood sugar levels, and increase the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes and heart disease. That is why moderation is important.
