Don’t Forget: You Have Options!

If you’re HIV negative and had unprotected s€x, the condom broke, you were assaulted, or had any risky exposure within the last 72 hours, it’s not too late to protect yourself.

Visit your nearest clinic and ask for Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP).
PEP is a short course of HIV medication that can greatly reduce your risk of infection, but it only works if you start it quickly.

Time matters. Every hour counts. Act now, protect your future, and help reduce new infections.

Addressing the high increase of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases in Zambia is crucial due to its devastating impact on individuals, families, and society as a whole. GBV undermines human rights, hinders development, and perpetuates inequalities. Effective prevention and response mechanisms are essential to create a safer and more just Zambia for all.

At TVTC college, through the support of the UNESCO O3PLUS project we remain committed to curbing all forms of GBV among students. We believe in fostering a safer campus free from all forms of violence.
O3plus, people's health and well-being.

Protect Yourself with PrEP!

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is a daily pill that helps prevent HIV. It must be taken every day for as long as you’re at risk of getting HIV.

PrEP does not start working immediately.

For men, it takes at least 7 consecutive days of daily use to reach protective levels.

For women, it takes at least 21 consecutive days of daily use to become fully effective.

PrEP is not a pill you take only when you plan to have unprotected s€x. You need to start taking it days before any possible exposure so that your body is protected when it matters most. If you stop taking PrEP, its protective levels will drop quickly.

Who should consider PrEP?

S€x workers

Men who have s€x with men (MSM)

People in intimate relationships with partners living with HIV

Anyone who doesn’t know their partner’s HIV status

Take charge of your health and protect yourself. Talk to a healthcare provider about starting PrEP today!

The UNESCO cluster coordinator Mr. Vincent Nacidze delivering his opening remarks at the peer educators workshop on SRH delivery through drama, culture and poetry taking place at Technical and Vocational Teachers' College under the O3PLUS project. We believe training peer educators to deliver SRH through drama, culture, and poetry isn't just about transferring information—it's about transforming how SRH is perceived, discussed, and acted upon in communities. It turns education into a movement that is relatable, local, and sustainable.

Mr. Nacidze, in his speech emphasized on the importance of incorporating art in s*xual and reproductive health advocacy. SRH education often suffers from being dry or clinical. But drama and poetry usually makes content memorable and engaging. Also stimulates emotional responses, increasing empathy and understanding and subsequently offering interactive and participatory learning, which reinforces messages.

As UNESCO O3PLUS project, we remain committed to ensuring we promote innovation in SRH delivery to the students in tertiary and higher learning institutions in order to attain good health and well-being for all.

Stay tuned for other latest updates.

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote s*xual and reproductive health awareness, TVTC hosted a Night of Laughter under the UNESCO O3PLUS Project. The event aimed to sensitize students on the prevention of s*xually transmitted infections (STIs) and raise awareness about HIV prevention and care.

The evening featured renowned Zambian comedians Maza Comedy and Muzo Kopala, who delivered powerful messages through humor. Using sketches and stand-up comedy, they engaged students in an entertaining yet educational format, addressing myths, stigma, and best practices in STI and HIV prevention. We had positive feedback from participants on the creative and relatable approach to learning.

The Night of Laughter successfully combined entertainment with education, making important health topics more accessible and memorable for students. TVTC remains committed to promoting youth well-being through innovative and inclusive initiatives.

UNESCO O3Plus project-TVTC took part in the TEVISA Sports Tournament held from 4th to 8th July 2025 at TVTC sports field. The aim of this participation was to provide young people with health information and services during the event.

The O3Plus team comprised of 30 peer educators and support from clinicians and healthcare providers from PPAZ (Planned Parenthood Association of Zambia)

The O3Plus team set up a health tent at the tournament. From this tent, they offered several health-related services and educational activities which included:
Condom Distribution. Free condoms were given to encourage safe s*x practices.

HIV Testing and Counseling: Visitors were able to get tested for HIV and receive professional counseling.

Information on PrEP and PEP: The team shared information on how to prevent HIV using PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) and PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis).

OWNU App Sensitization: The team taught people how to download and use the OWNU App, which provides young people with important s*xual and reproductive health information.

Many young people visited the health tent, received services, and asked questions about their health. The activities helped raise awareness on how to stay healthy and make informed decisions. The peer educators made it easy for fellow students to feel comfortable and open during the sessions.

The TEVISA Sports Tournament was a good opportunity for the O3Plus project to reach out to young people with health services and education. UNESCO O3PLUS -TVTC, clinicians and PPAZ worked together to promote a healthy lifestyle among students. The team looks forward to taking part in more events like this in the future.
