“The worst part of being strong is that no one ever asks if you're fine” 😔

Only your therapist and psychiatrist will ask that's if you can afford one. Everyone will just assume, based on your facial expressions, which are not real because very few people want to hear the truth. Being the ‘Strong One’ often means people assume you’re always okay, but strength can hide some of the heaviest battles. Even the strongest people need someone who checks in, stays close, and asks deeper questions. No one should have to carry everything alone. Even the strong need a buddy.

There's something healing when someone lets you be fully you, even the awkward or unpolished moments.

One of the kindest things you can do is just let people be themselves. Let them say a word wrongly without correcting or judging them. Let them ramble about something they love even if you don’t get or understand it. Let them be excited, be awkward, be passionate, be them because not everything needs to be polished or relatable. Sometimes the most generous thing you can offer is space for someone to feel safe, seen and unjudged for the small things that make them who they are because, for some people, this isn’t just “a nice behaviour” it’s a nervous system medicine.
When someone lets you be awkward, intense or messy without flinching, your body slowly learns:
“I’m not a problem to manage. I’m a person who can exist as I am.”

The first signs your mental health is slipping aren’t dramatic. It starts quietly in ways most of us ignore. You wake up tired no matter how long you slept. Getting out of bed feels heavier than it should. You lose interest in things you usually enjoy, your appetite changes, your energy drops, and your motivation disappears for no real reason. Maybe your stomach is a mess, your skin is acting up, you feel foggy all the time, or you’re snapping at people over nothing. Sometimes you just feel… flat. Disconnected. Like you’re here but not really here. These aren’t “small things.” They’re early warnings the mind and body tapping you on the shoulder before they have to shout. You don’t have to wait for a breakdown to take yourself seriously. You deserve care the moment things start to feel off.

November marks the start of Movember, a month dedicated to men’s health and mental wellbeing. This isn’t just about awareness, it’s about reminding every man that they're life matters every single day. Even when things feel heavy, when it seems easier to stay silent, or when your thoughts turn against you please, don’t give up. You’ve already survived so much more than you give yourself credit for. You’re not weak for feeling. You’re not alone in the struggle. You are needed, you are loved, and the world is better with you in it.

Learn not to judge what you don’t understand.

It’s easy to call someone dramatic until you feel that kind of pain yourself. And it's easy to laugh at someone’s anxiety until your own chest won’t stop tightening. Life has a quiet way of humbling you, of letting you feel the things you once dismissed in others. So these days, let's try to be softer with people. You never know what someone’s carrying, so be kind than be right.
