FRIENDLY HAIR TIPS🌱

πŸ€ Moisturize your hair everyday, if you can't manage to do it everyday then try to moisturize your hair at least once every after two days or three times in a week.
πŸ€ Trim your hair every 3-4 months or when needed. If you are not trimming your hair regularly that's going to lead to a problem, so make sure you letting go of those dead ends.

And if you don't have conditioner, you can just spray a little bit of water to your hair and if you are someone who is into DIY's, you can try using okra gel, aloe vera gel, etc.

SIMPLE HAIR TIPS FOR
BEGINNERS 🌱
πŸ€ Know your WHY.
Have a good reason why you want to start your natural hair journey, a reason that's going to keep you motivated, even if you want to give up, you will remember why you started your natural hair journey. Make sure it's you that wants to do it and not someone else telling you that you should
πŸ€ Learn to love yourself.
Everything starts and ends in the mind, going natural is a mental process, just as much as it is physical one. Learn to love your hair, except the hair you have and begin to love it no matter what stage you're at, weather you transition one day ago or you big chop.
πŸ€ Keep it simple.
Find a routine that works for you. Creating a simple routine for your hair is a great way to start as your hair needs all the love and care. Even if it's something as simple as shampoo, deep conditioning, leave-in conditioner, hair oil, and a protective hair style. But not all hair products are going to work for your hair, so buy the smaller size products, test it on your hair and see if it works and if your hair loves the product then you can know weather to buy it or not, and this is going to help you avoid wasting money on things that do not work and I know alot of people hate that. If you're a DIY person, then try using things that are already in your kitchen like olive oil, bananas, honey, and all these natural organic ingredients are great.
πŸ“Œ Focus on your natural hair journey and don't compare your hair with other people, cause that's going to make you feel anxious and stressed. And hair growth doesn't get along with anxiety and stress.
πŸ“Œ Don't expect your hair to touch the ground overnight, you need to understand that hair growth is natural process and it needs, time, patience, consistency and a good hair care routine for it to grow strong, healthy, thick and long.
🌱 If you have a stable or a good hair care routine that you consistently follow β€œgreat”, but if you don't have a hair care routine then you need to create one.

HAIR STYLES 🌿🌱
Sometimes hair styles are not properly installed or maintained. So before you install a protective hair style you first need to make sure that you properly wash your scalp and hair, do a deep conditioning treatment, and then use a leave-in conditioner and any oil of your choice to seal in moisture.
πŸ“Œ When you are installing a protective hair style take your time, do it with patience and don't rush because too much tugging and rough handling your hair can lead to breakage. So, from start to finish, work slowly and carefully.
πŸ“Œ If you installed a protective hair style where your scalp is exposed, then you need to moisturize your hair and scalp with a little bit of water and then seal in the moisture with the β€œhair oil” your hair likes, for at least once or three times in a week, or even everyday to keep it hydrated.
Don't forget to massage your scalp!
πŸ“Œ Sleep with a satin bonnet or a silk scarf to avoid a lot of rubbing against your style while you're sleeping, especially if you are wearing braids and a scarf is a better option. So, this is going to keep your hair style sleek and frizz-free, and it can even extend how long you keep your braids in.

Leave your protective hair style for at least 4 to 6 weeks and then give your hair a little bit of a break for about 2-3 weeks in between your protective styles. Even when you do take your hair out of a protective hair style, make sure that you are properly taking care of your hair.

GROWTH PLATEAU 🌱(part 2)

How To Get Past Your Growth Plateau 🌿
If you have ever experienced growth Plateau in your natural hair journey, you know how annoying and frustrating it can be. If you feel like your hair grows to a certain length and then it stops growing and it seems quite hard for your hair to reach bra strap length, even though you have been using the right products, getting your ends trimmed, and keeping your hair moisturized, and if you have been doing all that β€œgreat”, you're doing everything that you should be doing externally to your hair. Well, it's not that your hair isn't growing, the truth is that your hair is growing, it's just not retaining length. And you may want to consider changing few things that are going to help your hair to continue to grow and healthy hair starts within.

Here are some things that you may want to consider doing differently;
🌿 Reduce your stress
Stress causes your hair to either stop growing or it causes your hair to grow slowly. When your body is stressed, your blood doesn't circulate the way it should, oxygen doesn't flow to your scalp the way it should and that's what you need to grow your hair.
πŸ“Œ There are so many things that you can do to reduce your stress, you can do yoga, read books, you can pray, you can meditate, you can exercise and the list goes on. For me I meditate πŸ§˜πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ and that's how I calm my body.
🌿 Eat a well-balanced diet
Increase the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables because they will help you get past your growth plateau. So,if you're someone who eats a lot of fast food or processed foods, then you need to decrease the consumption of that cause fast foods don't really have a nutritional value and your blood get nutrients from what you eat. Your hair needs blood supply and nutrients for it to grow and tiny blood vessels at the base of every follicle feed the hair root to keep it growing. If you are eating fresh fruits and vegetables then what you eat, first goes to support yourvital organs, your hair is the last thing to receive the nutrients. So, when you're not eating health foods to support your vital organs first then your hair is definitely not getting what it needs. That's why alot of times when are dealing with hair loss is because your body doesn't get what it needs, so your poor hair definitely doesn't get what it needs.
πŸ“Œ Eating a balanced diet that is rich in vitamins and minerals may help promote hair growth, especially if you are experiencing hair loss due to poor nutrition.
🌿 Drink a lot of water
You should be drinking 2-3 liters of water per day or even to make it easier , you can even drink half your body weight per day. Just increase your water in take and you will be amazed with what it does for your hair. If you hair is dry, you can hydrate your dry hair from the inside out, water is life and that's one of the things that you need for your hair to grow among many other things. So, if you're not drinking a lot of water and you are wondering why your hair is not growing then you should check your water in take.
NOTE: hair growth plateau is not permanent,so take pictures at the start of your growth plateau and every month to check your hair growth. Documenting the little changes in your hair is a great way to understand what is working for your hair, and what you should change. Getting over a growth plateau is a process and it won't happen overnight.

HAIR PLATEAU 🌱(part 1)
Is when your hair won't grow past a certain length cause it breaks at the same late that it is growing and this is going to make you think that your hair is not growing. It's also important to know that the hair on your head, on average it grows for 4 to 7 years before it sheds off and shedding is different from breakage, shedding is direct from the scalp ( down below there's a post about hair growth circle). The reason why for a lot of us our hair isn't able to reach its longest potential,is because of breakage and here are the things that can cause hair plateau;
🌿 Friction
You can be doing everything right and friction could be your down fall. Many things can fall under this category, anything your hair touches, it could be your couch, your clothes, your car sit, the way you tie your scarf at night, the fabrics you sleep on and under when you're not wearing your satin bonnet.
How do we fix this?
πŸ“Œ Wear your hair up most of the time especially when you're wearing rough fabrics
πŸ“Œ When the colder month roll back around and you go back to wearing wool coats, consider wearing a silk scarf around your shoulders to were your hair hits.
πŸ“Œ Cover your favorite sit at home with a satin or silk piece of cloth.
If you want you can just wear your satin bonnet or your silk scarf when you're at home. Rubbing and rolling help cause breakage, always pay attention to what your hair is touching, even if it just by covering your sit with a silk cloth it's going to make a difference.
🌿Too much moisture
This can lead to reducing elasticity and weakening your hair
🌿 Protein overload
Can cause your hair to become brittle and easy break
🌿 Over manipulation
This can lead to breakage, dryness and shedding.
🌿 Tools and accessories
Can also be miss used, it can be your comb, your brush, hair ties, hair clips and so on.
🌿Heat styling
The over use of heat can damage your hair and stunt the growth of your hair and reduce its thickness.
🌿Harsh chemicals
Such as relaxers and dyes lead to breakage and dryness, if not maintained properly.
πŸ“Œ Not always, clearly their are some people that still uses chemicals and their hair is healthy and thick, but it is also no secret that harsh chemicals are not always the best for your hair.
🌿 Unhealthy regimen
Make sure you're paying attention to what your hair is physically encountering, make sure you are reaching for products, tools , accessories and regimen that are suitable for your hair.
🌿 Not trimming the ends of your hair
Is going to lead to breakage
🌿 Medication and health issues
Because the body is additionally burdened by medication, nutrients are less well absorbed or pass on to the hair roots. A good treatment reduces these deficiencies and uses ingredients that stimulates hair growth.
Your hair is growing,it is just not retaining length.🌱

AN AVOCADO πŸ₯‘ DIY MOISTURIZING DEEP CONDITIONER 🌿
Avocado is a fruit and not a vegetable and it's belongs in the berry family. Avocados are loaded with potassium, amino acids and vitamins that can nourish the scalp and help your hair to look healthy, shiny and hydrated. This fruit is also a great source of biotin, and adding this B-complex vitamin back into the diet may help your grow more healthily.
BENEFITS OF AN AVOCADO HAIR MASK.
πŸ₯‘ Moisturizes hair
Avocados are extremely moisturizing and nourishing because they contain natural oils. The polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids(β€œgood” fats), and high levels of antioxidants like vitamin E in avocado are well absorbed into your scalp and hair shaft. This not only has a highly moisturizing and protective effect against environmental stressors and damage, it may also stimulate new growth and help unclog blocked hair follicles.
πŸ₯‘ Promotes hair growth
Avocados are high in vitamin B and E, which work at cellular level to protect and strengthen your hair. Vitamin E help repair damage on the scalp, which may slow or prevent hair from growing. Vitamin B is essential for hair growth. Avocados locks moisture into the hair cells, nourishes hair cells and strengthens hair roots, shaft and strands.
πŸ₯‘Prevents dandruff
Avocados reduces scalp inflammation and stimulates dormant hair follicles. The oil that's inside the avocado helps rejuvenate and moisturize the scalp. Avocado helps soothe the scalp and promotes long, strong, healthy hair growth, because it's a rich source of protein, amino acids and vitamins.
HOW TO PREPARE AN AVOCADO HAIR MASK πŸ₯‘
πŸ“Œ The avocado was really big so I only used half of it to make that hair mask that's on the photo.
πŸ₯‘ Get an avocado and then cut it in half.
πŸ₯‘ Remove the seed that's on the middle of the avocado.
πŸ₯‘ After that, get a bowl and a spoon, and then scoop out the avocado.
πŸ₯‘ Use a folk to mash the avocado (that's what I use since I don't have a blender).
πŸ₯‘ When you're done;
Add 1 tablespoon of regular conditioner
Add 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel
Add 1 and half tablespoon of honey
Add 3 tablespoons of olive oil or you can use any oil your hair likes
πŸ₯‘ After that, mix everything together with a spoon. If you have a blender, you can go ahead and use it.
πŸ₯‘ When you're done, strain your avocado hair mask with a wig cap, in order to remove all the avocado residue that may have remained in the hair mask. And your hair mask is ready to use.
πŸ₯‘ Apply the hair mask to clean, damp hair and leave it for 30mins to 1hr.
After that, rinse your hair thoroughly with lukewarm water.(warning: don't use hot water)
πŸ“ŒIf your hair is thick and long, it's okay to use one or two avocados. But if your hair hasn't yet grown pass shoulder length,I think it's okay to just use one avocado or half of the avocado.

HOW TO PREPARE ALOE VERA GEL
🌿 Get your leaves from the aloe vera plant.
🌿 Wash your aloe vera leaves thoroughly and let them dry completely. Also, let the yellow latex which contains a chemical called aloin to sip out as it can cause allergic reactions to you, if you are sensitive to latex.
🌿 After that, remove the spiky edges, cut your aloe vera into smaller pieces, so that that it is easy to work with.
🌿 Take the same smaller pieces of aloe vera, cut them in the middle and then use a spoon and a bowl to scoop out your aloe vera gel.
🌿 When you are done extracting the gel, transfer it to a blender and then blend your aloe vera gel until it's smooth and bubbly( if you want you add a little bit of water to it).
🌿 After that strain your aloe vera gel using a wig cap or a tea towel, and your aloe vera gel is ready to use.
You can use it as a detangler, as a pre-poo, as a deep conditioner or as a leave-in conditioner/ a hair spray.

πŸ“Œ If you don't have your own aloe vera plant, you can just get them at the grocery store if they sell near you.
πŸ“Œ If you can't wait for your aloe vera to dry completely, you can soak it for hours or overnight in order to remove the aloe latex which makes it itch.
πŸ“Œ If you don't have a clear bowl it's okay, you can use any bowl you have and it doesn't have to be clear.
πŸ“Œ If you don't have a blender, you can use your hands to squeeze out the gel or a tomato masher.
If you are allergic to aloe vera please don't use it.

ALOE VERA
Aloe vera is a succulent plant with spiky leaves that have a nutrient-rich gel. The gel has deep nourishing, moisturizing, and healing properties that can benefit your scalp and hair in many ways.
BENEFITS OF ALOE VERA.
🌺 Rejuvenates dry scalp and hair.
Aloe vera has a high water content which makes it a great humectant for your scalp and hair. It provides essential nutrients to your hair follicles that make your hair grow healthy and prevent your scalp and hair tissues from drying out.
🌺 Promotes A Healthy Scalp.
An itchy, dry scalp and dandruff are not only annoying but can be quite embarrassing. Aloe vera can help! Aloe vera is naturally anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antibacterial. Active proteolytic enzymes in aloe vera repair dead skin cells on the scalp. All of these properties work together to help reduce dandruff, smoothe and condition the scalp to prevent the dryness that leads to itching.
🌺Adds Soft Texture By Reducing Frizziness.
Aloe vera has been known to naturally condition the hair and help hair retain moisture. It does this by smoothing down the cuticle to seal the moisture within the hair shaft. This way the hair maintains its elasticity and it is less prone to split ends and breakage.
🌺 Promotes Healthy Hair growth
The active enzymes in aloe vera gives it an exfoliating quality which help eliminate the dead skin cells that can build up on the scalp and clog hair follicles. The pH levels in hair and on the scalp are also balanced thanks to the alkaline nature of aloe vera.
Coating the hair with aloe vera as part of your deep conditioning routine or using aloe vera juice in your spray bottle mix can help keep your waves, curls and kinks feeling soft and looking shiny.
