Q: How is an endoscopy performed?

A: An endoscopy is performed using an endoscope,a flexible tube with a light and camera attached to it, the doctor can view pictures of your digestive tract on a color TV monitor. During an upper endoscopy,an endoscope is easily passed through the mouth and throat and into the esophagus allowing the doctor to view the esophagus, stomach and upper part of the small intestine.

Ask your Doctor Why You are on Atenolol for High Blood Pressure.
Do you have high blood pressure and are you treated with Atenolol?
You may want to ask your doctor about why you are still on Atenolol.
Atenolol is in a class of blood pressure medicines called Beta Blockers.
It used to be among the first line of medications for hight blood pressure treatment in the past. This was until early 2000’s when researchers started to uncover that Atenolol was not all that effective after all. In some instances researchers found that when it came to lowering central blood pressures ( Blood pressure in the big arteries like the aorta). Central blood pressure rather than peripheral blood pressure is what determines the risk of stroke and heart attacks. Atenolol was not very good at reducing central blood pressure. Because of this and many other reasons related to its ability to reduce the complications from hight blood pressure( heart attacks, heat failure and or stroke), Atenolol is therefore no longer recommend by medical societies that provide guidance to clinicians on hypertension treatments. If you are on this Atenolol for hypertension, ask your doctor whether this is the best medication for your situation.
