Understanding Diabetes: Causes, Effects, and Management
Don't let diabetes control your life! Take charge of your health with our expert guidance.

Diabetes is a chronic medical condition that affects how your body turns food into energy. It's characterized by high blood sugar levels, which can lead to various complications if left untreated or poorly managed.

*Causes of Diabetes*
1. *Type 1 Diabetes*: An autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks insulin-producing beta cells.
2. *Type 2 Diabetes*: A metabolic disorder caused by insulin resistance and impaired insulin secretion.
3. *Gestational Diabetes*: Develops during pregnancy, usually in the second or third trimester.
4. *Other Forms of Diabetes*: Monogenic diabetes, cystic fibrosis-related diabetes, and diabetes caused by other medical conditions or treatments.

*Risk Factors for Diabetes*
1. *Family History*: Having a first-degree relative with diabetes increases your risk.
2. *Age*: Risk increases after age 45.
3. *Weight*: Being overweight or obese increases your risk.
4. *Physical Inactivity*: Sedentary lifestyle increases your risk.
5. *Ethnicity*: Certain ethnic groups, such as African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, and American Indians, are at higher risk.

*Effects of Diabetes*
1. *Heart Disease and Stroke*: High blood sugar levels can damage blood vessels and nerves.
2. *Kidney Damage*: Diabetes can damage kidneys and increase the risk of kidney failure.
3. *Nerve Damage*: High blood sugar levels can damage nerves, causing numbness, tingling, and pain.
4. *Blindness*: Diabetes can cause damage to eyes and increase the risk of blindness.
5. *Foot Damage*: Nerve damage and poor circulation can increase the risk of foot ulcers and amputations.

*Take Control of Your Diabetes*
Don't let diabetes hold you back! With the right guidance and support, you can manage your condition and live a healthy, fulfilling life.

What is infertility?

Infertility is a condition of your reproductive system that causes women to be unable to get pregnant (conceive). Infertility can affect anyone and has many causes.

What are the types of infertility?

👉🏻Primary infertility: You’ve never been pregnant and can’t conceive after one year (or six months if you’re 35 or older) of regular, unprotected sexual in*******se.
👉🏻Secondary infertility: You can’t get pregnant again after having at least one successful pregnancy.
👉🏻Unexplained infertility: Fertility testing hasn’t found a reason that a woman or couple is unable to get pregnant.

What are signs of infertility?

👉🏻Pelvic or abdominal pain.
👉🏻Irregular va**nal bleeding,
👉🏻irregular periods or no periods.
👉🏻Penile disorders or issues with ej*******on.

INFETILITY CAUSES FOR WOMEN

👉🏻Ovulation disorders :are the most common cause of infertility in women. Ovulation is the process in which your o***y releases an egg to meet s***m for fertilization.

These factors can contribute to female infertility:

👉🏻Endometriosis.
👉🏻Structural abnormalities of your va**na, uterus or fallopian tubes.
👉🏻Kidney disease.
👉🏻Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
👉🏻Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS)
👉🏻Sickle cell anemia.
👉🏻Uterine fibroids or uterine polyps.
👉🏻Genetic or chromosomal disorders.
👉🏻Sexual dysfunction.
👉🏻Surgical or congenital absence of your ovaries.
👉🏻Infrequent or absent menstrual periods

INFETILITY CAUSES FOR MEN

The most common cause of male infertility involves problems with the shape, movement (motility) or amount (low s***m count) of s***m.

Other causes of male infertility include:

👉🏻Enlarged veins (varicocele) in your sc***um, the sac that holds your testicles.

👉🏻Injury to your sc***um or testicles.
👉🏻Low testosterone (hypogonadism).
👉🏻Misuse of anabolic steroids.
👉🏻Sexual dysfunction, such as erectile dysfunction, 👉🏻anej*******on, premature ej*******on or retrograde ej*******on.
👉🏻Undescended testicles.
👉🏻Previous chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

Arthritis is the swelling and tenderness of one or more joints.

Symptoms

The most common signs and symptoms of arthritis involve the joints. Depending on the type of arthritis, signs and symptoms may include:

👉🏻Pain
👉🏻Stiffness
👉🏻Swelling
👉🏻Redness
👉🏻Decreased range of motion

Causes

1) Osteoarthritis

The most common type of arthritis, osteoarthritis involves wear-and-tear damage to a joint's cartilage the hard, slick coating on the ends of bones where they form a joint. Cartilage cushions the ends of the bones and allows nearly frictionless joint motion, but enough damage can result in bone grinding directly on bone, which causes pain and restricted movement. This wear and tear can occur over many years, or it can be hastened by a joint injury or infection.

2) Rheumatoid arthritis

In rheumatoid arthritis, the body's immune system attacks the lining of the joint capsule, a tough membrane that encloses all the joint parts. This lining (synovial membrane) becomes inflamed and swollen. The disease process can eventually destroy cartilage and bone within the joint.

Complications

Severe arthritis, particularly if it affects your hands or arms, can make it difficult for you to do daily tasks. Arthritis of weight-bearing joints can keep you from walking comfortably or sitting up straight. In some cases, joints may gradually lose their alignment and shape.

PROSTATE ENLARGED

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a health issue that becomes more common with age. It's also called an enlarged prostate. The prostate is a small gland that helps make semen. It's found just below the bladder. And it often gets bigger as you get older.

An enlarged prostate can cause symptoms that may bother you, such as blocking the flow of urine out of the bladder. It also can cause bladder, urinary tract or kidney problems.

Symptoms
Common symptoms of BPH include:

👉🏿Frequent or urgent need to p*e, also called urination.
👉🏿Peeing more often at night.
👉🏿Trouble starting to p*e.
👉🏿Weak urine stream, or a stream that stops and starts.
👉🏿Dribbling at the end of urination.
👉🏿Not being able to fully empty the bladder.

Less common symptoms include:

Urinary tract infection.
Not being able to p*e.
Blood in the urine.

Risk factors for an enlarged prostate include:

Aging. An enlarged prostate gland rarely causes symptoms before age 40. After that, the chance of having an enlarged prostate and related symptoms starts to rise.

Family history. Having a blood relative with prostate problems makes you more likely to have problems with your prostate.

Diabetes and heart disease. Studies show that diabetes might raise the risk of BPH. So might heart disease.

Lifestyle. Obesity raises the risk of BPH. Exercise can help lower the risk.
