💫 We still Talking: Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) 💫

Here is one of some of the common ART methods

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

IUI is a simple fertility treatment that gives s***m a little head start on their journey to meet the egg 🧬✨

Here’s how it works:
Your healthcare provider places s***m directly into your uterus using a thin, flexible tube called a catheter usually around the time you’re ovulating. This boosts the chances of fertilization because the s***m are placed closer to where the egg is waiting.

Some women may also take fertility medication to help stimulate ovulation and increase the chances of success.

IUI is often recommended for couples with mild fertility challenges, including low s***m count or unexplained infertility.

💬 Have questions about IUI or other fertility options? Drop them below or send a message. Remember, you’re not alone on this journey.

💫 Let’s Talk: Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) 💫

Ever heard of ART? 👶 It stands for Assisted Reproductive Technology — a group of medical treatments that help people get pregnant when it’s not happening naturally.

Here’s the deal: the s***m and egg still do the work (they're the real MVPs 🥇), but with ART, doctors give them a little help — especially if things aren’t going smoothly on their own.

Some of the steps happen outside the body — kinda like science lending a hand to nature! 🧪💞

Here are some common ART methods:
🔹 IVF (In Vitro Fertilization): Egg meets s***m in the lab, then the embryo is placed in the uterus.
🔹 IUI (Intrauterine Insemination): S***m is placed directly into the uterus when the time is just right.
🔹 ICSI: One s***m is injected straight into an egg — helpful in male infertility cases.
🔹 Egg or s***m donors: Used when one partner can’t produce healthy eggs or s***m.
🔹 Surrogacy: Another woman carries the baby for someone who can’t carry a pregnancy.

ART has brought hope to so many couples and individuals around the world. 💖 If you or someone you know is struggling to conceive, it’s okay to explore options — you’re not alone.

✨ Always remember: Health is Wealth — and so is peace of mind.

🩺 Understanding Pre-eclampsia
Pre-eclampsia is a pregnancy complication marked by high blood pressure, usually developing after 20 weeks. If left untreated, it can progress to eclampsia—a dangerous condition involving seizures.

⚠️ These conditions can be life-threatening for both mother and baby.

✅ Early detection, regular antenatal checkups, and proper management are key to keeping moms and babies safe.

GOOD EVENING DIARIERS

🚼💉 VACCINES SAVE LIVES

According to the World Health Organisation, in 2024, around 115 million babies worldwide received at least one dose of vaccines to protect them from deadly diseases like diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough.

👏 Over 109 million completed all three recommended doses.
😔 But sadly, 20 million infants missed at least one dose — including 14 million who weren’t vaccinated at all.

📣 Vaccines are one of the most powerful tools we have to protect children's health and help communities thrive.

So, why are some children still missing out?

🔹 Conflict and displacement
🔹 Misinformation and fear
🔹 Limited access to healthcare

WHO and UNICEF are calling for urgent action to:

✅ Close immunization gaps
✅ Strengthen healthcare systems
✅ Fight harmful vaccine myths

💪🏾 Let’s work together to ensure no child is left behind.
🌟 Every vaccine shot counts. Every life matters.

GOOD MORNING DIARIERS

🩺 Maternal Mortality: A Global Crisis That Can Be Prevented

Maternal mortality remains unacceptably high. In 2023 alone, according to the World Health Organisation an estimated 260,000 women around the world died during pregnancy, childbirth, or shortly after.
Shockingly, over 700 women died every single day from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth — that’s one maternal death every 2 minutes.

🌍 Approximately 92% of these deaths occurred in low- and lower-middle-income countries, where access to quality healthcare remains limited.
The tragic reality? Most of these deaths were entirely preventable with timely, skilled care and stronger health systems.

💡 It’s time to raise awareness, demand accountability, and ensure that every woman — regardless of where she lives — has access to safe, respectful, and high-quality maternity care.

Every pregnancy and birth is unique. 🌸✨

Addressing inequalities in health outcomes, particularly in sexual and reproductive health, rights, and gender, is essential for ensuring that every woman has access to respectful and high quality maternity care.

It’s time we acknowledge the barriers many women face and work together to create an inclusive healthcare system where every mother’s journey is supported and celebrated. 💕🤰🏽

Let's continue to advocate for equality in maternal health and ensure every woman is treated with the dignity and care she deserves.

🌸 Let’s Talk Maternal Health 🌸

The journey of motherhood should never be a life-threatening experience. Yet, many women around the world still face serious risks during pregnancy and childbirth.

🔴 The leading direct causes of maternal injury and death include:

Excessive blood loss (hemorrhage)

Infections

High blood pressure (preeclampsia/eclampsia)

Unsafe abortion

Obstructed labour

🟠 Indirect causes like anemia, malaria, and heart disease also contribute significantly.

✨ The good news? Most of these deaths are preventable with timely care from skilled health professionals in a well-equipped and supportive environment.

But here's the truth: Maternal health isn’t just about survival — it’s about thriving. Ending preventable maternal deaths must remain a top global priority, but we must also go further. We need to reduce maternal injuries and disabilities, and ensure women leave childbirth healthy, empowered, and able to care for themselves and their babies.

👩‍⚕️ Let’s continue to raise awareness, demand better care, and support policies that protect mothers.

💚 Healthy mothers mean healthy families and strong communities.

🌸 Good afternoon Diariers! 🌸

Remember, these few weeks, we are diving into an important topic — Pregnancy and Maternal Health. 💬🩺

Maternal health refers to the well-being of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period. It's a vital aspect of public health, not just for mothers, but for families and communities as a whole.

While the world has made significant strides in improving maternal health over the past two decades, challenges still remain. According to the World Health Organisation, about 287,000 women died during and following pregnancy and childbirth in 2020 alone. That’s a number far too high — and many of these deaths are preventable.

Let’s talk. Let’s learn. Let’s advocate for safer motherhood. 💚

📅 Stay tuned for expert insights, tips, and real conversations — right here on Doctor’s Diary: Health is Wealth.

🚨 Meningitis Outbreak Alert in Mwense District 🚨

The Ministry of Health has confirmed an outbreak of meningitis in Mwense, Luapula Province. Sadly, two 19-year-old pupils from Mwense Secondary School have died.

So far, 85 suspected cases have been reported, with 5 confirmed. Health experts are on the ground conducting screenings and isolating boarding pupils.

While vaccines are available, they won’t be administered at this stage. Instead, students will receive antibiotics, and the school will remain open.

🧠 Meningitis is a serious infection of the protective membranes around the brain and spinal cord.

⚠️ Symptoms: fever, neck stiffness, headache, confusion, sensitivity to light, nausea & vomiting.
