🪴Why bother putting plants in office spaces?
🪴or any spaces?
🪴 Why make the extra effort to get pretty flower pots?
🪴Why make them extra neat?
🪴Why bother putting decor in our spaces?
🪴 Is it just to attract customers?
🪴 To show status to guests?
🪴 Let me challenge you, try to remember how you feel when you are in those spaces
🪴Don’t you find your self smiling for no reason?
🪴Relaxing your shoulders and wanting to linger on?
🪴Beauty is therapeutic
🪴And there are so many ways we can create it, even a little bit, in our spaces
🪴This is a small practical step you can take to improve your mental health
🪴P/S I couldn’t help taking a photo when I walked by this beauty this week 🤗

⛪️ I grew up Anglican and Ash Wednesday was an important observation
⛪️ Ash Wednesday is the day that marks the beginning of lent
⛪️ Yesterday, as I reflected on it, I tried to think of something that I might want to give up this season that will be character building.
⛪️ I decided to do a ‘no complaining’ challenge.
⛪️ Everyone knows when you start a challenge to stay away from something, the temptation to do it seem to multiply 🤦🏾‍♀️
⛪️ Well, the goal is that I can radiate more positive energy 🤗
⛪️ Another added mental health benefit is how less anxious and tired you become when you complain less 🙃
⛪️ Habit forming rules say if you do something long enough, it becomes part of you
⛪️Lent is a great opportunity for transformation

💘As I sat reflecting on some of the Valentine’s Day posts I have seen
💘It was really nice to see so much love celebrated
💘I was also sad though, to see how others latch on to bitterness
💘Others, their bitterness is not even based on their own experience
💘When you are hurt and betrayed, how you move forward or not has a lot to do with you
💘And even if it didn’t, you stand most to lose if you don’t find a way of moving on
💘I know this isn’t easy - you can enlist the help of my book 📕 “How Can I Make The Pain Go Away” to help you
💘If friends and family aren’t any good, you can also reach out for professional services
BUT do your best to move forward

💌 Sure, a broken heart 💔 can make you lose your mind, lead to depression or alcoholism, anger problems and all sorts sad tales
💌But every coin has two sides
💌And love can be protective for mental health and restorative in most cases
💌It can bring happiness, hope and emotional stability
💌Enjoy your season of love without guilt
💌Without pessimism
💌Happy Valentine’s Day 💘

📕MONDAY: BOOK UPDATE DAY
📕’Disenfranchised grief’ is the name given to grief that is not openly acknowledged or validated by society
📕This is what often happens to mothers who experience miscarriages especially in our African society
📕There are so many superstitions and beliefs surrounding the reason for this but either way, the point is that it can still worsen grief
📕This is what Ngoma award winning author, Chibwe Kachusha describes in her book, “The Silence of Thorns”
📕A fictional story set in Zambia inspired by real life events
📕I had the privilege of giving the keynote speech at the book launch
📕My key 🔑 message: Tell your story.
📕 Let us tell more stories so that they can be enough Zambian experiences to learn from and to influence culture
📕 Sharing your story also gives people the opportunity of sharing experiences without actually meeting one another 🤗
