MYTHS ABOUT PHYSIOTHERAPY

πŸ§™β€β™‚οΈ MYTH #1:

β€œPhysiotherapy is only for injuries.”
❌ Nope!

TRUTH

Physio helps with pain, posture, breathing problems, stroke recovery, balance, fitness, and even pregnancy-related issues. It’s not just about fixing you β€” it’s about helping you move better for life.

πŸ‘΄ MYTH #2

β€œIt’s only for old people.”
❌ Not even close!

TRUTH

Physio is for everyone β€” babies with development delays, athletes, pregnant women, office workers, and yes, the elderly too. Age doesn’t matter β€” movement does. πŸ™Œ

πŸ‹οΈ MYTH #3

β€œPhysio is just exercise.”
❌ Wrong!

TRUTH

Sure, exercises are a big part, but physios also use hands-on therapy, massage, dry needling, education, posture correction, breathing techniques, and more!

🩺 MYTH #4

β€œYou need a doctor’s referral to see a physio.”
❌ Not always!

TRUTH

In many places, you can see a physiotherapist directly without a referral. If in doubt, check your local policy β€” but don’t let paperwork hold you back from feeling better!

😣 MYTH #5

β€œPhysiotherapy is painful.”
❌ Big misunderstanding!

TRUTH

Good physiotherapy is about relief, not torture. It may feel challenging at times, but it should never feel like punishment. Your therapist will adjust treatment to your comfort level.

πŸ’Έ MYTH #6

β€œPhysio is too expensive and doesn’t work.”
❌ Think again!

TRUTH

Physiotherapy is an investment in your health. It can reduce the need for medications or surgery β€” saving you money (and pain) in the long run. Plus, it works β€” with science to back it up!

🧠 MYTH #7

β€œPhysio is only for physical problems.”
❌ There's more to the story!

TRUTH

Physio also helps with mental wellness β€” especially when chronic pain or injury affects your mood and motivation. Movement is powerful for the mind too. πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈβ€οΈ

πŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈπŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ MYTH #8

β€œAll therapists are the same.”
❌ Not true!

TRUTH

Physiotherapists are highly trained experts in movement and rehab. They go through years of education and specialize in various areas like sports, neuro, cardio, pediatrics, and more.

βœ… BOTTOM LINE

Physiotherapy is not just rehab β€” it’s a life tool. Whether you're recovering, managing a condition, or just want to move and feel better β€” physio has your back (and knees, and neck… πŸ˜‰).

11/05/2025

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a permanent movement and posture disorder caused by issues in the developing foetal and infant brain. CP is the most common childhood disability. The core symptom of cerebral palsy is motor function disorder, but other associated dysfunctions frequently occur, including cognitive, communication, sensation, perceptual, and behavioural conditions, as well as epilepsy. Despite cerebral palsy being non-progressive in nature, secondary conditions often develop over time that affect functional abilities. Research has shown that children with CP can benefit from physiotherapy by:

*Improving local muscular endurance: low resistance, high repetition exercises of major muscle groups
*Preventing joint contractures: passive gentle range of motion exercises and stretches across major joints; stretching needs to last for 6 hours to have an impact
*Increasing muscle strength: increasing resistance exercises progressively through all major muscle groups

In addition, physiotherapy can help improve balance, postural control, gait and assist with mobility and transfers.

Come through at Macho Physio Oasis and we will help manage cerebral palsy as well as prevent it.
