On 20th July 2025, NeuroEndo Research Institute held a successful capacity-building workshop. Sr. Malango Goma Yombwe presented on the vital role of nurses in preventing aspiration pneumonia in stroke patients. She shared how early swallow screening, proper patient positioning, and caregiver education have improved outcomes and reduced complications at UTH’s Stroke Unit.

"The small but meaningful steps toward advancing neurological and endocrine health in Zambia 🇿🇲 have officially begun — and I’m so grateful to be part of it through the Neuroendo Research institute.✨

These sessions are not only equipping us with knowledge 🩺 but also helping us build the soft skills 🤝 that are essential in both research and patient care.

I especially enjoyed the case presentations from my fellow interns 👏 — they didn’t just present clinical stories, they sparked questions, that challenged me to think, and see potential research 🔍

We had Professor Muhammad's session on crafting research questions from clinical which was incredibly insightful, and Sr. Malango’s teaching on aspiration pneumonia prevention in stroke patients 🧓🏽🫁 was both practical and powerful. It's encouraging to see evidence-based strategies being implemented in stroke patient care 🏥💙
