The Youth Action Against Vandalism (YAAV) Initiative is this week being implemented in Copperbelt's five towns: Ndola, Chingola, Luanshya, Kitwe and Mufulira by through various Arts forms.
In view of this on Monday (16th February,2026), the ZESCO representatives, Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts and National Arts Council of Zambia Representatives, YAAV Project Coordinators and some Arts Association representatives had paid a courtesy call to Coperbelt Permanent Secretary Mr. Lawrence Mwanza, ZESCO's Limited North Divisional Manager Mr. Kennedy Muchanga and Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer Mwala Yuyi.
The ZESCO Limited Representatives and National Arts Council shared their collaborative YAAV initiative the objectives of this pilot project and how impactful it is. The two stakeholders shared how the initiative is about to be implemented in Copperbelt's five towns concurrently for a week in the bid to fight vandalism of Zesco installations.
The initiative was highly recommended for Copperbelt Province due to high levels of recorded vandalism by thieves including armed criminals.
The courtesy was concluded with handshakes and exchange of YAAV T-shirts as souvenirs.
The Youth Action Against Vandalism is being sensitized through Arts Associations currently in various areas of Copperbelt with a conclusion of YAAV football match which is on this Saturday in Kitwe.
