Prostate Enlargement, a common condition that affects many men especially after the age of 40.
The prostate is a small gland found below the bladder in men. When it becomes enlarged, it can press on the urinary tract and cause serious problems.
Common signs and symptoms include: • Frequent urination especially at night
• Weak urine flow
• Pain or burning when urinating
• Difficulty starting or stopping urine
• Pelvic discomfort
Many men ignore these signs until the condition becomes serious.
The good news is that early treatment can help manage and improve prostate health.
If you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms, do not ignore them.

📚 TODAY’S HEALTH TALK

🍑 Understanding “Kalonda” (Piles / Hemorrhoids)

Medical Name: Hemorrhoids

---

📌 GREETING

Good evening Wellness Family 😊
Today we are talking about something many people are shy to discuss but very common — what we locally call “Kalonda.”

---

📖 WHAT IS KALONDA?

Kalonda (Hemorrhoids) are swollen veins around or inside the a**s (back passage).

They can:

Grow outside the a**s (external piles)

Be inside the a**s (internal piles)

---

⚠️ SYMPTOMS

Someone with piles may experience:

Pain around the a**s

A painful lump beside the a**s

Bright red blood after passing stool

Itching or irritation

Pain when sitting

If the pain is very severe and the swelling is hard, it could be a blood clot inside the pile (very painful).

---

❓ WHAT CAUSES KALONDA?

The main causes are:

1. Constipation (hard stool)

2. Straining too much when using the toilet

3. Sitting too long in the toilet

4. Pregnancy

5. Not drinking enough water

6. Low fiber diet

When you strain, pressure increases in the a**l veins and they swell.

---

🛑 QUESTION & ANSWER SECTION

Q: Is kalonda dangerous?
A: Most times it is not dangerous, but heavy bleeding or severe pain needs medical attention.

Q: Can it heal?
A: Yes, especially if treated early and lifestyle is changed.

Q: When should someone go to the hospital?
A: If there is:

Heavy bleeding

Severe pain

Fever

Symptoms lasting more than 1–2 weeks

💬 ENCOURAGEMENT

Please do not suffer in silence because of shame.
Health issues around the private area are still health issues and must be treated early.

Your body gives you signs, don't ignore them ,

🩺 Understanding Prostate Enlargement (BPH)

Prostate enlargement, also called Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), is a common condition that affects many men as they grow older.

The prostate is a small gland found below the bladder in men. It surrounds the urethra (the tube that carries urine out of the body).

When the prostate becomes enlarged, it presses on the urethra and can cause urinary problems.

---

🚻 Common Symptoms:

Frequent urination (especially at night)

Difficulty starting urination

Weak urine stream

Feeling that the bladder is not empty

Dribbling after urinating

---

👴 Why Does It Happen?

Mainly due to aging

Hormonal changes in men over 40

Family history may increase risk

---

⚠️ Is It Cancer?

No. BPH is not prostate cancer, but the symptoms can be similar, so proper medical check-up is important.

---

🏥 When to See a Doctor:

If urination becomes painful

If there is blood in urine

If you cannot pass urine at all (emergency)

---

💡 Encouragement

Prostate enlargement is common and treatable. Early check-up helps prevent complications.

👉 Men above 40 years are encouraged to go for regular check up .

What Are Uterine Fibroids?
Fibroids (also called Uterine fibroids) are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus (womb).
They are made of muscle and fibrous tissue and can vary in size:
As small as a seed
As large as a grapefruit (or even bigger)
Some women have one fibroid, while others may have multiple fibroids.
📍 Types of Fibroids
Fibroids are named based on where they grow:
Intramural fibroids – grow within the muscular wall of the uterus (most common)
Submucosal fibroids – grow into the inner lining of the uterus
Subserosal fibroids – grow on the outer surface of the uterus
Pedunculated fibroids – grow on a stalk inside or outside the uterus
❓ What Causes Fibroids?
The exact cause is not fully known, but several factors play a role:

1️⃣ Hormones (Estrogen & Progesterone)
Fibroids grow in response to estrogen and progesterone
They are most common during reproductive years
They often shrink after menopause (when hormone levels drop)
2️⃣ Genetics
If your mother or sister had fibroids, your risk is higher
Certain gene changes are found in fibroids
3️⃣ Family History
Fibroids can run in families
4️⃣ Early Menstruation
Starting your period at a young age may increase risk
5️⃣ Lifestyle Factors
Obesity
Diet high in red meat
Low intake of fruits and vegetables
Vitamin D deficiency
6️⃣ Pregnancy History
Women who have never been pregnant may have a slightly higher risk
⚠️ Symptoms of Fibroids
Some women have no symptoms, but others may experience:
❤️‍🔥Heavy or prolonged periods
❤️‍🔥Pelvic pain or pressure
❤️‍🔥Lower back pain
❤️‍🔥Frequent urination
❤️‍🔥Pain during s*x
❤️‍🔥Difficulty getting pregnant (in some cases)

💡 Important to Know
Fibroids are very common, especially in women aged 20–45.
They are not cancer.
Many women live normal lives without needing treatment.
Treatment depends on symptoms, size, and location.

If you would like, I can also explain:
✔️ How fibroids are treated
✔️ Natural ways to manage fibroids
✔️ Fibroids and pregnancy
✔️ Signs that mean you should see a doctor
