The major enemies of crops are WEEDS and PESTS, if these two are not managed properly your yields can drastically reduce about 50% .
Let's control weeds on time to minimize competition of nutrients, sunlight and space. If you can't manually control the weeds ensure that you use appropriate chemicals with proper mode of actions, time of application and those which are least damaging to soils, humans , animals and environment.
On the other hand, controlling pests needs a proper identification of pests which can only be achieved through monitoring and scouting. After scouting you can then come up with a good Integrated pest management plan( IPM) to supress, prevent or eradicate these enemies.
