🍼 Suction (Vacuum) Delivery: Effects on Baby’s Head 🍼

A vacuum-assisted delivery (suction delivery) is a procedure where a soft or rigid cup is placed on the baby’s head to help guide them out during labor. While it can be helpful in difficult deliveries, it may cause temporary effects on the baby’s head.

💡 Common Effects of Suction Delivery:
✔️ Chignon – A soft swelling or lump on the baby's head (temporary).
✔️ Bruising & Redness – Mild marks where the cup was placed (fades within days).
✔️ Cephalohematoma – A collection of blood under the scalp, which usually resolves on its own.
✔️ Jaundice – In some cases, bruising can lead to higher bilirubin levels, causing newborn jaundice.
