Untold Stories | Living with PCOS

This is why PCOS is so close to my heart.

No matter how much you explain, some people will never understand. The blame always comes back to “you’re not doing enough”. Eat less. Diet harder. Try this. Try that. And yet PCOS is not something you can simply “fix” with a meal plan.

The background of this screenshot is one of those conversations that pushed me toward using (Mounjaro-Tirzepatide). Still, even then, someone could not understand.

This is why we raise awareness. This is why PCOS Awareness Month matters. Because behind every woman with PCOS is a story of being dismissed, judged, or misunderstood when all we want is compassion, knowledge, and support.

We share these untold stories so the next woman doesn’t have to feel so alone.

This is what polycystic ovaries can look like on ultrasound—but not all women with PCOS (“polycystic ovarian syndrome”) have these cysts. In fact, around 20–25% of women without PCOS can show this appearance and many with PCOS don’t. PCOS is a hormonal condition, not defined solely by cysts. It’s diagnosed when at least two of these are present: hormonal imbalance, irregular periods, or polycystic ovaries on ultrasound. - R. Hart Oct 2004

As Dr. Jia Zhu, an attending endocrinologist at Boston Children’s Hospital (Harvard Medical School), and her team recently discovered (2025):
PCOS is part of a broader metabolic and reproductive disorder that can affect both men and women and genetic risk factors may be detectable as early as childhood.

While PCOS itself only develops in people with ovaries, the genetic risk factors behind it can also show up in men increasing their likelihood of insulin resistance, obesity, and type 2 diabetes. This shows how PCOS is more than a reproductive disorder it’s a systemic condition with family-wide health implications.

Myo-inositol is not a “quick fix” it’s more of a gentle rebalancer. Give it at least 3–6 months before assessing its full effect.

Just Because You Had the Baby… Did PCOS Leave?

Something has been sitting on my heart.

We often talk about PCOS in relation to fertility the struggle to conceive, the treatments, the tears. But what happens after you finally have the child?

Does PCOS just go away?

For many of us, it doesn’t.

The irregular cycles, the insulin resistance, the fatigue, the mood swings, the hair loss, the skin flare-ups they don’t vanish with childbirth. If anything, some of them get worse. And in the joy of motherhood, we quietly push them aside. Because the baby came. So everything is “fine,” right?

But here’s the truth:
PCOS was never just about fertility.
It is a lifelong hormonal and metabolic condition. And while pregnancy may feel like the finish line, it’s not the cure.

So no the work doesn’t end when the baby arrives.
If anything, it’s an invitation to go deeper to nourish the body that carried life, to understand the root causes that were ignored in the pursuit of motherhood, to care for the woman, not just the mother.

Because your hormones still need healing.
Your metabolism still matters.
Your well-being still counts.

And you deserve that kind of love even after the miracle.

Let’s talk about it more.
