🟥Endometriosis🟥
🔺Endometriosis is a chronic, often painful, disease where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (endometrium) grows outside the uterus, typically on pelvic organs like ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the bowel.
🔻It causes inflammation, scarring, and severe pelvic pain, particularly during menstruation, s*x, or urination. It can cause infertility and affects roughly 10% of women of reproductive age worldwide.
🔶Symptoms associated with endometriosis vary - including a combination of:
🚺 painful periods
🚺 chronic pelvic pain
🚺 pain during and/or after s*x
🚺 painful bowel movements
🚺 painful urination
🚺 fatigue
🚺 depression or anxiety
🚺 abdominal bloating & nausea
❗️If period pain interferes with daily life, it is not considered normal, and you should consult a healthcare provider.‼️
🔴Diagnosis is often made through imaging (ultrasound, MRI) or, definitively, through laparoscopy.
🔵Treatment focuses on managing symptoms and improving fertility:
🟢Medication: Pain relievers (NSAIDs) and hormonal treatments (birth control, IUDs) to manage pain and reduce inflammation.
🟣Surgery: Laparoscopic surgery to remove endometrial patches (lesions).
🟤Fertility Treatment: Specialized help if pregnancy is desired.
