PORTIONS.
A portion refers to the amount of food that you eat in one meal or the size of a particular macronutrient/component in a meal.
Having an idea of what your plate should look like is essential for stable blood sugar levels, satiety, weight maintenance, weight loss, or muscle hypertrophy.

At Creative Nutrition, we help our clients describe and track their portions using any one of the following methods:
1. Plate Portions - Easy to apply & the most flexible of the three methods. This is the least accurate method in terms of controlling the overall size of a meal.

2. Hand Portion guide - Easy to apply and sets the size of your food portions according to the size of your fist, palm, thumb & cupped handful.

3. Macronutrient tracking - The most accurate, but also the most time-consuming to implement & the least flexible. Requires dietary guidance from a nutrition specialist.

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT.
After years of creating nutrition programmes for weight class and physique athletes, C.J. committed to putting herself through the paces of a bodybuilding prep in September this year.
Nine weeks, a total of 5.6kg of weight loss and one spray tan later - she stepped on stage for the first time.

" I have greater empathy for my performance clients when they are in the low calorie & carbohydrate phases of their diets, having been through the rigours of one myself.
My greatest challenges were the water manipulation phase, as well as the significant decrease in energy levels & sleep quality in the final week of the prep. My heartfelt appreciation to everyone who offered me guidance & encouragement over the last two months. The entire experience was definitely a worthwhile personal achievement."
