I have seen firsthand the transformative power of mindfulness in helping individuals navigate challenging life transitions. Menopause is one such transition and it was such a pleasure and honour to be trained by the wonderful Sophie Fletcher.

As a Mindful Menopause Practitioner, I am equipped with the knowledge and tools to support and help women navigate through the emotional and physical symptoms of this natural life transition, with greater ease and resilience. But, it's not just about being a practitioner, it's about being an ally and advocate.

It's no secret that women face a number of challenges in the workplace, and menopause is one of them. As a society, we've made great strides towards gender equality, but there's still much work to be done. Men also play an important role in this, and can demonstrate their commitment to gender equality by working together and cultivating empathy and understanding within workplace culture that values people at every stage of life.

M E N O P A U S E

By overlooking , companies run the risk of losing precious talent.

“The loss of women in the workforce not only drains companies of valuable talent and experience, but also contributes to a lack of diversity. Even industries that have a strong female participation in entry-level jobs see a steady drop-off of female representation toward the C-suite – with only 8% of global CEOs being female.” Charlotte Chedeville, Regional Head of Operations – , of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)

As discussed in the past weeks, fatigue is a major component of burnout, and sadly extreme fatigue is one of the most commonly reported symptoms associated with menopause.

Research by Atlanta Journal-Constitution shows that 26% of women believed that menopause symptoms had a negative impact on their work and 17% of women have actually quit their jobs or have thought about doing so because of menopause related symptoms.

Sad news or another shining example of New Zealand’s PM, Jacinda Ardern’s decisive, mindful and compassionate style of leadership at play?

Whether you like her politics or not, it’s often said that a good leader knows when to step down.

Let’s face it, burnout is real and yet so many of us struggle to recognize the symptoms because we often experience burnout in different ways and symptoms get masked. In fact, yesterday’s LinkedIn post briefly touched on this very topic. 

The World Health Organization defines burnout as a syndrome conceptualized from chronic workplace stress, and characterized by feelings of exhaustion, increased detachment, cynicism and reduced professional efficacy.

Physical symptoms may also include: gut issues, persistent headaches or migraines, a change in appetite, disruption in sleep patterns, lower libido, feeling overwhelmed or detached, over eating/drinking/smoking etc.

Clients often think it’s due to unmanageable workplace stress, but relationships, parenting, caring for a loved one and even job hunting are examples of other areas of life it manifests.

With temperatures soaring, and AC units constantly on day and night, I suspected dust might be a problem, and instinctively knew it was time to call the lovely and highly professional team to give our beds the Pure Sleep mattress cleaning and sanitization treatment.

V I P A S S A N A S I S T E R S 💛

I did it!! A ten day journey of complete noble silence and solitude from the outside world. A journey both so physically and mentally demanding, and yet so deeply rewarding on many levels.

After several years of waiting, my time finally came to venture into a crazy self-exploratory and observation based world of vipassana, and what a ride it was!

Today was our last day and I feel so blessed to have meet all these beautiful souls along this path. 🙏💛
