Honored to have attended the 3rd SPCCT 2026 – Society for Pediatric Cellular Therapy & Transplant Conference held in Bengaluru . The scientific program reflected the remarkable evolution of pediatric cellular therapy and BMT in India, showcasing both depth of experience and cutting-edge innovation.

It was inspiring to reconnect with stalwarts of our field and to witness firsthand the extraordinary growth of transplant programs across the country. Listening to the historical journey and visionary insights shared by Prof. Mammen Chandy was truly special — a powerful reminder of how far pediatric transplantation in India has progressed.

The updates across HSCT, CAR-T, gene therapy, and transplant outcomes were impressive and reflect India’s increasing global footprint in cellular therapy.

I was also privileged to moderate a stimulating session on pediatric transplantation, featuring Prof. Biju George and Prof. Rajni Agarwal (Stanford University). The discussion highlighted both scientific advances and the need for continued collaboration to optimize outcomes for children.

Grateful to the organizers and colleagues for creating such a meaningful academic platform. The momentum in pediatric BMT and cellular therapy in India is truly inspiring.

Honoured to Attend the 28th PHOCON Annual Conference at KMC Medical College Manipal.

It was an incredible privilege to participate as faculty at this year’s Paediatric Hematology & Oncology Conference (PHOCON). The scientific sessions were truly inspiring, and I was deeply impressed by the brilliant young paediatric oncologists from across India who presented outstanding abstracts, case discussions, and innovative research.

What stood out most was the remarkable progress in Paediatric Oncology and Hematology in India. The dedication, innovation, and commitment of our young colleagues are not only shaping the future of cancer care but are also creating a real, positive impact on the lives of children battling cancer.

Beyond the academic enrichment, PHOCON was heartwarming on a personal level. I had the joy of reconnecting with many old friends who continue to contribute exceptionally—both nationally and internationally. Equally rewarding was meeting new colleagues, building fresh collaborations, and strengthening partnerships that will ultimately help us improve outcomes for many more children.

Grateful for this opportunity—for the learning, the friendships, and the shared vision to build a better future for every child with cancer and blood diseases

It was an honour and a privilege to attend Donate Life Egypt 2025 in Cairo.
The event was truly inspiring, especially the opportunity to listen to and meet many experts in the field of liver, kidney, and bone marrow transplantation. A special highlight was hearing Professor Alvin Roth, the 2012 Nobel Prize winner in Economics, whose speech was exceptionally inspiring.

I was grateful for the chance to speak with him as part of this remarkable programme that promotes organ transplantation across the world—particularly in our region.

I also had the opportunity to present our experience in paediatric bone marrow transplantation in the UAE, highlighting our progress and outcomes at the Burjeel Cancer Institute, Burjeel Medical City.

A memorable and impactful event indeed.

Bone Marrow Transplantation
can be life saving and give Children with rare diseases a new life.
It is a really heartwarming experience and feeling when families visit with their children after a successful transplantation that happened many months ago.
Hashir was a child born with a very rare blood disease called Congenital Sideroblastic Anemia.
He was my patient and was receiving regular blood transfusions to maintain his life.

It is an amazing feeling when parents remind me after several years that I gave them HOPE by saying one day Hashir would get his rare disease cured by BMT. That HOPE stuck in their mind.
With God’s Grace we established a BMT Center in Burjeel Medical City in Abu Dhabi UAE in 2022.
Hashir happened to be one of the few patients who underwent a successful BMT at Burjeel.

Congenital Sideroblastic Anemia is a very rare disease. The incidence is 1 in 200,000 people. Very few cases of successful BMT have been reported in the literature.
We say proudly Hashir is one of them.

It is an amazing feeling as doctors to see this successful story and hear from his family that Hashir hasn’t needed any blood transfusions for almost 2 years after BMT and he is back to school and doing great, as compared to his life before BMT whilst he was getting blood transfusions every month.

Medicine is only one of the requirement for treating Cancer. Children with Cancer and their families deserve more than medicine to make their difficult journey better. Now Most of the Childhood Cancer is curable but the journey to the Cure is difficult for the child and family.

and psychological and emotional support through HOPE HOMES next to the Cancer Hospitals.
We have such 5 homes in Kerala.
Yesterday I spent a day in one of the home in Calicut. We had educational programs for families and try to fulfil the wishes of children by providing toys of their choice.
It was a highly satisfying and heartwarming experience for me and my family.

It was a great opportunity to attend First Annual Conference of American Arab Assembly of Cell Therapy and Transplantation organised by King Hussein Cancer Centre, Amman, Jordan.
KHCC is one of the best hospitals I visited.
It was really wonderful to see many American Arab Transplant Physicians who are contributing significantly in the field all over United States.
Very valuable academic discussions and learning opportunities. It is really commendable to see their commitment in supporting to develop transplant programs in the region.
I was fortunate to present our experience of establishing and doing paediatric BMT in Abu Dhabi at Burjeel Medical City.

It was my pleasure to attend Uzbekistan First Pediatric Hematology and Oncology conference at Tashkent as a speaker. It was a remarkable event.
Happy to see enthusiasm and interest among many pediatric oncologists from Central Asian Countries. I feel very satisfied making an educational talk on Bone Marrow Transplantation in children for many pediatric oncologists. I also shared our amazing experience of completing 50 Bone Marrow Transplantation in children with different diagnosis including Leukaemia, Thalassemia, Sickle Cell Disease, Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases, and many other blood diseases at Burjeel Medical City Abu Dhabi, UAE.
It was an amazing experience
