Group Session 2 Highlights 🌟
Our little ones shone bright! 😊 We practiced social greetings, took turns, shared, and worked together like pros! 🤝 They requested basic needs, waited patiently, and even performed for friends - building confidence with every step! 🎤

We had fun with cooperative play, imitated actions, and transitioned smoothly between activities. And of course, yummy group eating time was a hit! 🍎 Sitting together, following simple instructions, and attending as a group helped everyone feel connected.

These activities boost social skills, emotional intelligence, and teamwork - paving the way for friendship, communication, and lifelong learning! 💡 Our tiny superstars developed problem-solving skills, built self-esteem, and had a blast doing it!

Connect 4 series - Part 2
One toy, Multiple goals💙

A simple toy like connect 4 can be used to target multiple skills in therapy.

In this activity, Connect 4 is used to improve visual matching, imitation, attention, and problem-solving skills through structured play.

The child is provided with a printed pattern image, and is encouraged to observe and recreate the same pattern on the Connect 4 board using colored coins. This helps the child focus on visual details, understand structured tasks, and improve matching and imitation skills while staying engaged in a play-based activity.

Using visual models and structured games supports cognitive development and strengthens learning in a simple and interactive way.

Tactile hypersensitivity (tactile defensiveness) is a sensory processing difference where the brain overreacts to light touch—interpreting it as overwhelming, uncomfortable, or even painful.

This is why some children may struggle during sensory inputs like the Wilbarger brushing protocol.

Everyday sensations such as clothing tags, grooming, or unexpected touch can trigger distress, leading to:
• Difficulties with personal care (hair brushing, teeth brushing, dressing)
• Challenges in social interactions due to touch aversion
• Sensory overload from constant or unexpected touch

Understanding the sensory system helps us respond with support—not force.

In Speech Therapy, we focus on helping children communicate meaningfully in everyday situations.

Our goals include:
• Choice making – encouraging children to express preferences through simple questions like “Do you want X or Y?”
• Functional communication – building skills such as requesting, commenting, and initiating interactions.
• Play development – using play to model social interaction, turn-taking, and language growth.
• Sentence formation – developing simple sentences like “I want ___” and gradually increasing complexity.
• Verbalising wants – teaching effective ways to ask using phrases like “I want…”, “May I have…”, along with pointing and naming.

We achieve this through:
• Modeling and expanding language
• Play-based activities
• Visual supports such as pictures and choice boards

Because communication grows best when learning feels natural, engaging, and fun.
