Wanting to prepare your child for an assessment comes from care. But sharing sample questions before testing can unintentionally influence results and take away from what the assessment is meant to do.

These tools are standardized to reflect true abilities when questions are seen for the first time. At the Valens, we focus on accuracy, fairness, and understanding the whole child — not coaching answers🧠🧩

Before the year turns, take a moment to check in with yourself.
Not everything needs to be carried forward.

As we step into a new year, let intention replace pressure and reflection come before resolution.

Wishing you a grounded, gentler start to what’s next! Happy New Year from the Valens Clinic❤️✨

A moment that stays with you✨

Dr. Bassam Dheyaa recalls a recovery story that reminds us why we do this work, where health is rebuilt with care, hope is restored step by step, and harmony slowly finds its way back.

Because real care goes beyond the diagnosis. It’s about seeing the person, holding the process, and believing in recovery.. even when it takes time💙

🎄The holidays look relaxing on the outside…but for some families, they come with more meltdowns, more anxiety, and more “why is this harder?”

Less structure can be tough for children who feel safer with predictability. Even simple routines can make the season feel lighter.

If your child needs a different kind of holiday rhythm, that’s okay. Support is allowed, even during the “fun” months.

Dear Santa,
This year wasn’t about asking for more.
It was about asking for less noise, less pressure, less overwhelm.

Some wishes don’t fit under a tree. They live quietly inside us and they still deserve care.

May this season be gentle with you. Happy Holidays!🤍✨

Seasonal affective disorder isn’t just about winter or cold climates. It’s about change.

In December, many people notice:
🪫low energy
⚖️emotional heaviness
♨️craving comfort
🚫withdrawal
❌feeling “off” even when life looks fine

This isn’t laziness. And it isn’t weakness.

Seasonal changes affect the nervous system — even subtle ones. Support, routine, and connection matter more than we realize. And we're here to help!💙

If you’re waiting for the “right time” to start…this is it.

Not January.
Not next week.
Not after you feel ready.

Today counts more than you think.
Begin today.

🎅😲⁉️Is Santa real🎅😲⁉️

A question many parents hear this time of year.

There isn’t one right answer. It depends on your child’s age, personality, and what they’re really asking beneath the question.

Sometimes it’s curiosity.
Sometimes it’s doubt.
Sometimes it’s just wanting reassurance.

The magic of Christmas isn’t about proving or denying. It’s about keeping the joy, the wonder, and the connection alive — in a way that feels right for your child and your family🎄🎁

Sometimes the body holds the stories we never had words for.
If you’ve been feeling “off,” heavy, or overwhelmed… it’s not weakness.
It’s your body asking you to slow down, breathe, and pay attention.

You don’t have to navigate that alone, we’re here to guide you with care and clarity!🌿

Holidays often bring up one big question for families of children with ADHD: Should we pause medication or stay consistent?💊📚🎆

As a general rule:
💊Stimulant medications like Ritalin, Concerta, and Vyvanse can sometimes be paused during breaks.
💊Non-stimulant medications like Strattera/Stratox usually need to be continued daily.

How to decide⁉️

Think about your child’s symptoms, upcoming exams, how they function off medication, and the purpose of their treatment plan. Medication adjustments should always follow medical guidance — but understanding these differences helps parents make informed, confident choices.
