Supporting community health in Nagaland means working with the seasons, the terrain, and the realities of daily life in remote villages.
Through our ongoing Health Education Project in the Tening District, delivered in partnership with Naruda and Global Support Link, the focus remains simple: practical healthcare, delivered consistently, where access is limited.
Between October and December 2025, our team was able to reach 6 remote villages where 480 people, including 83 children, took part in health education sessions and basic clinical checks.
The work centred on prevention and early detection, including hygiene, nutrition, dental care, lifestyle-related health risks, and self-care practices. Alongside basic screenings such as blood pressure and blood sugar checks, free medicines and personalised advice were provided by our program nurse to help community members better manage ongoing health issues.
Reaching some locations is never straightforward. One visit involved a 4-hour roadside delay following a vehicle breakdown enroute to one of the most remote villages, but the team continued the visit as planned.
As the project continues, the next phase will focus on reaching additional villages, deepening trust with communities, and expanding education around long-term wellbeing and sustainable livelihoods.
In remote communities, consistency matters as much as care. Showing up, season after season, and supporting communities to take ownership of their health, with local partners leading the way.
