When is a facelift appropriate in a younger patient?
I’m often skeptical when someone in their 30s asks for a facelift. Many arrive with edited versions of themselves — filtered, idealised, not real. But if I listen carefully, sometimes there is a different story.
In rare cases, the signs of ageing appear early — structural changes that belong to a face ten years older: early descent of mid-face volume, the beginning of jowls, marionette lines, or pronounced platysmal bands. When those changes are truly present, and when a patient can explain convincingly how this affects their confidence and life, a deep plane facelift may be considered — not to chase youth, but to restore harmony.
A 38-year-old should not already feel old. When early ageing hides a young woman’s vitality, restoring balance is not exaggeration — it’s compassion guided by anatomy.
