In situations of extreme emotion, logic is probably the worst way to try to get through. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
TRY THE FOLLOWING TIPS:​​​​​​​​
(1) Attunement - try to get in tune with emotional person ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
(2) Mirror his/ her words back so that the aggrieved feels heard​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
(3) Avoid shouting back OR trying to use logic as it will likely go over their heads. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
(4) Bring compassion to the emotional person without getting swayed and emotional yourself. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
These tips are helpful for kids (throwing tantrums) or even for grown ups (in rage or extreme break-downs.)​​​​​​​​

I believe the role of a doctor, healer, spiritual guide, shaman, etc is not just providing symptomatic relief, coping strategies, better tools/ techniques, etc. to get by.

Rather, the real goal is to connect individuals to the truth of themself. Help people understand themself. Help individuals discover the root cause of their patterns and hence their sickness.

It is the greatest gift we can give to ourself and to each other.

Through my recent travels, away from home and back again, one of the things that have resonated strongly is the importance of a tribe and the people you choose to surround yourself with.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Rupert Spira says, “As human beings we have 2 purposes in life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(1) to recognize the nature of your being
(2) to express the qualities that are inherent in your being in life”

In my quest to work on both these purposes, I’ve find that I am at my best when my surroundings are accepting, non-judgmental, supporting and loving of all my imperfections and flaws.

SUPPRESSING EMOTIONS, HOLDING BACK FEELINGS & HIDING THE PAIN are ways we protected ourselves from being hurt, judged, lonely, and neglected. ​​​​​​​​

We built these maladaptive patterns as children, which as adults look like insecurity, anger, big egos, anxiety, obsessive thinking, etc. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
It’s important to acknowledge that while these behaviors protected us when we were young, they do not serve us anymore. Rather they hurt us further. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
And so it’s time to recognize this and let go. ​​​​​​​​
