So much changes when a woman becomes a mother. Whether it is for the first time or not, she has never been a mother to 'this' many children.
One of the significant changes is in her mindset, especially with her first child.
She goes from being in her 'other ' mindset, which is mainly focussed on herself to being totally immersed in her 'mother' mindset after giving birth and her thoughts and feelings are mostly about her baby and her mothering.
As time goes by (and this is different for every woman) she becomes more settled in her role and the 'other' mindset begins to return until both mindsets are able to exist equally in her life.
This is the evolution of motherhood and why a woman is forever changed once she becomes a mother. The butterfly to her caterpillar!
When I work with mothers using the Seasons of Matrescence® model by , we align this transition with the four seasons, and mothers love being able to identify their present mindset with a season and reflect on where they were and to anticipate a more grounded version of herself as time moves on.
