Best sitting position for safer eating

How baby sits matters as much as what is on the plate. A stable posture helps chewing and swallowing feel easier and reduces gagging risks.

Correct seating looks like
• Upright hips with a straight back
• Feet supported on a footrest or sturdy surface
• Tray at a comfortable height, baby not leaning back

Avoid
• Slouched hips and reclined eating
• Feet dangling with no support

Quick check
If baby can lean forward slightly and bring food to the mouth without sliding down, the setup is working

Mucus in p**p: when to wait vs call

A little mucus in p**p can happen sometimes, especially with drool, mild irritation, or a short tummy change. What matters is the pattern and how baby is acting.

Often okay to wait and watch
• Baby is teething and drooling a lot
• Mucus is mild and baby otherwise seems well
• No blood, no fever, no major feeding change

Call your pediatrician if you notice
• Mucus with blood, or a lot of mucus repeatedly
• Mucus lasting more than a few days
• Fever, vomiting, or baby seems unwell
• Signs of allergy like eczema, rash, wheezing, or persistent fussiness after feeds
• Poor feeding or fewer wet diapers

If you are ever unsure, it is okay to check in early rather than wait

P**p frequency by age

Baby p**p frequency changes a lot as feeding changes. What matters most is that p**p is soft enough to pass and baby seems well.

Newborn
Often after many feeds, sometimes multiple times a day

Around 6 months
Commonly 1–3 times a day, but some babies go less often as solids start

Toddler
Usually once a day or more, but it can vary with diet, hydration, and activity

When to check in with your pediatrician
• Hard pellets, painful straining, or blood
• Very watery p**p many times a day
• Signs of dehydration or baby seems unwell

Any frequency can be normal if baby is comfortable, growing well, and stools are easy to pass

Teething day vs teething night

Many parents notice that teething feels manageable during the day but much harder at night. This shift is common and usually temporary.

During the day
• More drool, chewing, and hands in the mouth
• Baby stays busy and distracted
• Shorter or lighter naps
• Pain feels easier to tolerate with movement and stimulation

At night
• More frequent wake-ups
• Increased need for comfort feeding or soothing
• Lighter sleep with easier arousals
• Less distraction, so gum discomfort feels stronger

What can help
• Offer extra comfort and connection during teething phases
• Use a consistent bedtime routine
• Provide a chilled teether before sleep
• Keep expectations gentle until the phase passes

Teething nights do not mean bad sleep habits. They usually settle once the tooth breaks through

How to Make Baby Purees (6 Months+) 🥣👶

Starting solids can feel overwhelming, but purees are the easiest first step. Keep it simple: choose one ingredient, cook until soft, blend smooth, and adjust the texture so it drips easily from the spoon.

✅ Best first foods: carrot, pumpkin, sweet potato, apple, pear, banana, avocado
✅ Blend with water, breast milk, or formula for a smooth start
✅ Start small: 1–2 teaspoons while baby sits upright
❌ No salt, sugar, or honey
💡 Introduce one new food at a time to watch for allergies

Save this guide for later + share with a mama who’s starting solids 💛
