The Benavides Cancer Institute held its 7th Annual Sarcoma Conference: “Unraveling the Enigma: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Rare Sarcomas” on July 26, 2025 at the St. John Paul II AVR.

A panel of experts explored the complexities of rare sarcomas, with updates on molecular pathology, diagnostic imaging, systemic therapies, and surgical management.

📣 As Dr. Charles Abraham C. Villamin, President of the Philippine Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (PMTS), powerfully reminds us:
“Sarcoma and bone cancers may be rare, but their impact is deeply felt—especially by the patients and their families.”
🔎 Early signs are often missed.
🦴 These cancers may look like common injuries or swellings, leading to delayed diagnosis.
👩‍⚕️ They require expert care.
Treatment needs a team of specialists — the earlier the referral, the better the outcomes.
⚠️ Research and support are limited.
