We are welcoming back all our children who are returning to in-person learning today at nurseries and schools across the UAE.

The reality of language and speech difficulties in children with ADHD is significant although the exact cause is still unknown.

Within neuro-affirming speech therapy sessions, timely intervention can greatly support families dealing with children who are easily distracted, impulsive and hyperactive.

Things I have learned as a speech therapist while working with these busy children:
⭐️ The ADHD brain works differently but is still exceptional
⭐️ Keep is short and sweet (a picture helps a lot)
⭐️ Repeat and repeat with patience
⭐️ Extra time is needed and pacing essential
⭐️ Learning is easier if taught with enthusiasm.

Why did I choose to become a speech therapist and still love my job 3 decades later?

Since a young age children fascinated me and ignited a light in me that I could not ignore. I chose speech therapy as a career based on my love for children.

When I became the mother of a daughter with some challenges of her own, I realised how underscored the value of parents were. I developed a deep sense of responsibility focussed on care towards mothers and fathers who were struggling with aspects no other parents had to consider.

It has been many years since I chose this profession. I am lucky to love my job not only because I provide services to children, but also because I have a deep passion to guide parents on this journey. I have taken the hands of many families. It has been a significant day in the UAE. On 9 April, day 41 of regional conflict, no UAV’s, ballistic missiles or cruise missiles have been intercepted.
