Dubai Bowen Therapy

Dubai Bowen Therapy I'm a fully qualified and certified Human and Equine Bowen Therapist and am practicing in Dubai. Substantial relief is often achieved after only one session.

Bowen is an amazing therapy that can be used to treat a huge range of conditions, both physical and emotional, anything from sports injuries to asthma to depression to long standing conditions and injuries that are difficult to resolve with other methods. Developed by the late Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia, a treatment will consist of a series of gentle non intrusive moves on skin or through light clothing. A session usually lasts up to an hour and frequently results in a deep sense of relaxation helping the body to recharge and balance itself. The technique is based on the theory that gentle moves over precise points of the body can prompt the body’s innate ability to relieve pain, restriction and imbalance without the need for deep, manipulative or forceful treatment. Bowen Therapy stimulates the body to heal itself, often profoundly. It is a holistic approach to pain relief and healing that is based on the recognition that the underlying cause or source of many musculoskeletal, neurological, neuromuscular and other health or pain problems can be found in the form of an imbalance of the energetic and fascial systems of the body. The average number of treatments people have is three to four. There are always exceptions to any rule, and some people will need further or even on-going treatment. Bowen is not that well known yet amongst the general public, but it's being used more and more by elite sports men and women, from Olympic athletes to premier league footballers. Not only do sportsmen report fewer injuries when treated regularly but they also notice enhanced performance. Back and neck pain would be one of the most common presentations and one that tends to respond very quickly. Other conditions that are consistently resolved include: frozen shoulder, sciatica, tilted pelvis, knee pain, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, RSI, whiplash, asthma, bronchial complaints, allergies, ME, migraine, hay fever, painful or lumpy breasts, PMT, fertility problems, kidney problems, IBS, depression and fatigue, pain management and sports injuries. The list is exhaustive and there is no condition that would exclude a treatment. The Bowen Technique is being used effectively for athletes in a wide range of sports such as football, rugby, martial arts, professional dancers, running, motor sports, tennis, cycling, swimming and golf to name a few! Bowen is being used effectively by Rugby League Leeds Rhinos, Premier League football teams including Manchester United, Newcastle United, Sunderland, Aston Villa and various elite British athletes are amongst those to include Bowen as part of their training regime. If their body is in balance then athletes recognise, they have more stamina and sustain fewer injuries. They are also able to focus and control the stress response, and these factors all result in an improved performance. Here is what a few professional sportsmen and women had to say about their experience of Bowen therapy;

“I am approaching the later years of my career and Bowen has helped my body to recover quicker after games and intense training. It´s great”. Jamie Peacock Leeds Rhinos.

“Although sceptical prior to receiving Bowen treatment the effects have been nothing but positive. Following competition it is extremely effective at relieving the tension and improving recovery in the neck and upper back areas”. Matt Diskin Leeds Rhinos.

“I have been receiving treatment for around a year and the benefits from it have been that I feel relaxed mentally also more supple and I have a greater range of movement”. Lee Smith Leeds Rhinos.

“The quality of my training is better, with the same number of hours and level of training” explains GB triathlete Victoria Gill. When asked “What is Bowen therapy?” Triathlon coach Joe Beer said,
“I am not a practitioner but I do have this type of body work. It does not feel like rubbing muscles in a massage instead various muscle parts are lightly manipulated. It feels like little is happening until the therapist leaves the room (those used to massage think “where’s she going now?)… you lie there and “ping” muscles start to re-set. I walk out of the session floating on air, my body feels great and I have to say whilst I don’t need to know the science I do know it works for me and other athletes who have tried it.”

“Bowen greatly benefits my training and performance, providing me with regular Personal Bests”. Frankie Snare, 6th Women 25-29 Iron Man 2014.

“The positive results I experienced physically and mentally during my Bowen therapy surpassed my initial expectations. I’m a very sporty individual (semi-professional footballer) with a busy work schedule so to find a therapy that significantly reduced stress levels and improved my physical well being and performance was a first. I would typically use a sports masseuse but Bowen offers you so much more. I would certainly recommend a course of therapy, the positive results will be evident“. Ben Thompson.

“Nothing short of magic” British GBmoto motorcycle rider James Ellison. To book an appointment please PM me or call 0563458698

Our brain can be compared to a supercomputer hard drive, regulating every body function. Vital information is relayed to the brain from the central (brain and spinal cord) and peripheral nervous system (nerves running through the whole body). Mind-body coherence is achieved when the operating system and the communication network are unimpeded, resulting in optimized function and well-being. Bowen Therapy is a superior complementary modality that is able to reboot the software and ensure the driver is online and not overloaded. It's like when malfunctions on your phone clear up after switching it off and on or installing a software update. Additionally, Bowen clears the peripheral communication network through the fascia, which houses the majority of nerves.

Did you know? Beetroot is gaining popularity as a performance enhancer for athletes. It's consumed in various forms like juice, powder, or whole.

Tom Bowen recommended beetroot to his clients. He saw thousands of clients in Geelong (VIC) and worked with football and other sporting clubs from the 1960s-1980s. His recommendation was two slices of raw beetroot or a quarter of a cup of beetroot juice daily as a kidney tonic.

Studies show it can improve performance, particularly in endurance sports, by extending time to exhaustion and covering more distance. Benefits are mostly seen in recreational athletes, not elites or sedentary individuals. Beetroot's high nitrate content helps by dilating blood vessels and delivering oxygen to muscles efficiently.

Possible downsides include red urine and upset stomachs. While beetroot can give a small performance boost, maintaining a balanced diet and proper training is crucial.

🌟 Exploring the Lumbar Spine: Anatomy, Healing, and More! 🌟

The lumbar spine is a crucial part of the body, providing support, flexibility, and protection to vital nerves. Let’s dive into the fascinating details of this region and discover how Bowen Therapy can assist with any dysfunction or injury! 💪🐎

Anatomy and Evolution:
The lumbar spine consists of five vertebrae (L1-L5) located between the thoracic spine and the sacrum. These vertebrae are larger and stronger than those in other parts of the spine, designed to bear the weight of the upper body and withstand the stresses of movement. Evolutionarily, the lumbar spine has adapted to support bipedal locomotion in humans, making it a crucial element for standing, walking, and lifting. 🧍‍♀️🌍

Origin of the Name:
The word "lumbar" comes from the Latin word lumbus, which means "loin" or "lower back." This name reflects the spine’s location in the body, connecting the upper and lower halves of the body. 📚🔍

Meridians and Chakras:
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the lumbar region is associated with the Bladder Meridian. This meridian influences the flow of energy (Qi) along the spine and is linked to the balance of fluids in the body. The lumbar spine also aligns with the Root Chakra (Muladhara), which governs our sense of safety, stability, and grounding. Imbalances in this chakra can manifest as physical pain or emotional issues like fear and insecurity. 🌌🌿

Emotional Links:
Tension or dysfunction in the lumbar spine can be tied to feelings of being unsupported or overwhelmed. Stress and anxiety often manifest in this area, leading to lower back pain and stiffness. Releasing tension in the lumbar spine can help restore a sense of stability and confidence. 😌💖

Bowen Therapy for the Lumbar Spine:
Bowen Therapy offers a gentle, non-invasive approach to address issues in the lumbar spine. Here's how it can help:

Relieve Pain: Precise moves over the lumbar region help alleviate chronic pain and discomfort. 👐✨
Enhance Mobility: Bowen Therapy promotes flexibility and range of motion, easing stiffness in the lower back. 🧘‍♂️
Emotional Release: By reducing physical tension, Bowen Therapy can also help release emotional stress stored in the lumbar spine. 🌟🧠
Fun and Interesting Facts:
The lumbar spine is responsible for about 70% of the body's ability to bend forward, making it essential for daily activities like tying your shoes or picking up objects. 👟🔗
The intervertebral discs in the lumbar region are thicker than those in other parts of the spine, allowing for better shock absorption. 🛡️
In many animals, the lumbar spine is highly flexible, aiding in activities like running and jumping. 🐾🚀
Whether you’re dealing with lower back pain or seeking to improve your overall well-being, Bowen Therapy can offer targeted support for the lumbar spine. 🌿✨
