Meet psychology department's anchor, Dr. Amy Bailey, who has been with kidsFIRST since 2011.

Head of Department, Amy qualified with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Birmingham, UK in 2004 and worked in the UK until she moved to Dubai in 2011. She has significant experience in psychological assessment and treatment, including advising in childcare proceedings as an expert witness for the UK court system.

Dr. Amy works across a wide range of psychological difficulties and offers an eclectic approach drawing on diverse psychological theories and practices. She holds specialist interest in attachment theory and trauma work.

Dr. Amy is heavily involved in advancing psychological awareness and services within the UAE, including extensive media interaction, participation in regional government conferences and workshops, and was a chapter contributor to the book, Mental Health and Psychological Practice in the United Arab Emirates (2015). She also offers supervision to school counselors within Dubai.

Rasika is kidsFIRST's voice specialist. She completed her master's degree in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology in 2013 at Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University. With experience in both public and private health care, Rasika assesses and provides speech-language therapy to children with a diverse range of challenges, including language delays, auditory processing disorders, apraxia of speech, articulation and phonological disorders, stuttering or cluttering, dysarthria, and hypernasality.

Rasika has a deep understanding of voice-related problems from her training and experience working with children/adolescents with vocal nodules, muscle tension dysphonia, puberphonia, and adults with vocal cord paralysis, spasmodic dysphonia, sulcus vocalis, vocal nodules, and other dysphonias.

In addition to Rasika’s clinical work, she has published research in peer-reviewed international journals (Karulkar & Gunjawate, 2021; Karulkar et al., 2020, 2022, 2023; Waknis et al., 2017). She firmly believes in collaborative efforts, working closely with parents, family members, and other multidisciplinary team members to address children's holistic needs and empower them to reach their full potential.

Meet our compassionate and enthusiastic OT and head of department, Kevina.

Kevina graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2012 from the University of Mauritius. Since graduating, she has worked in a special needs school, a rehabilitation centre and an early intervention department in Mauritius and UAE. She received her sensory integration certificate in July 2017.

Kevina enjoys being part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure a holistic treatment for clients. She is passionate about pediatric populations, and her experience includes attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), sensory processing disorders, autism spectrum, cerebral palsy, Sotos syndrome, dyspraxia, learning difficulties amongst others.
