The goal of a Bowel Endo diet is to find the "triggers." Inflammation keeps the body on high alert, while gassy or high-lactose foods can ferments in the gut. When that gas can't escape, it causes intense pressure on existing endometriosis lesions, leading to sharp, distorting pain.
To break this cycle, we recommend a hybrid diet that combines low FODMAP principles (to reduce gas and gut triggers) with an anti-inflammatory approach (to reduce systemic irritation).
FOODS TO INCLUDE
Lean Proteins: Focus on chicken, eggs, tofu, and fish. Fish is particularly beneficial as it is rich in Omega-3.
Fiber-Rich, Gluten-Free Grains: Choose brown rice, quinoa, and whole oats to aid digestion and maintain estrogen balance.
Healthy Fats: Incorporate avocado, olive oil, and nuts (walnuts, almonds) for anti-inflammatory power.
Low-Gas Vegetables:Leafy greens like spinach, zucchini, carrots, and broccoli, provide essential antioxidants without the heavy bloating.
Low-Sugar Fruits: Berries, oranges, and grapes provide vitamins without the high fructose levels that can trigger gut distress.
Natural Calmants & Probiotics: Ginger, turmeric, and peppermint to soothe the gut. Lactose-free yogurt for a healthy microbiome.
Magnesium-Rich Foods: Spinach, dark chocolate, and pumpkin seeds can act as natural muscle relaxants.
FOODS TO AVOID
Red & Processed Meats: Avoid beef, lamb, sausages, and bacon. These are high in arachidonic acid.
High-Lactose Dairy: Regular milk, soft cheeses, and ice cream are difficult for a gut to process.
Refined Carbohydrates & Sugars: White bread, pasta, pastries, and sugary drinks can spike insulin levels.
High-FODMAP Vegetables: Limit onions and garlic, as these contain fructans.
Legumes & Beans:Beans and lentils have high fiber and sugar content that can be very difficult to digest.
Specific High-Fructose Fruits: Avoid watermelon, apples, and cherries.
Excessive Caffeine & Alcohol: These can irritate the intestinal lining and hormone balance.
Artificial Sweeteners: Steer clear of sorbitol, mannitol, and xylitol.
