Birth control didn’t fix your hormones. It shut them down. You were told it would “balance everything,” but the pill works by suppressing ovulation. No ovulation means your body stops producing its own hormones. That’s not balance, that’s replacement.

No ovulation = no natural progesterone being made. On top of that, oral contraceptives increase SHBG, which binds testosterone and lowers what’s actually available. Studies show free testosterone can drop significantly, sometimes over 50%. That directly impacts energy, muscle, libido, and drive.

This isn’t opinion, it’s basic endocrinology. Research also shows changes in cortisol response and inflammatory markers in women using the pill. So while some women feel fine, many don’t and don’t connect the dots. The effects often show up years later, not immediately.

Mood changes, low libido, stubborn fat, fatigue, brain fog. Then they’re told it’s just aging or stress. No, it’s often years of suppressed hormone function catching up. Common doesn’t mean normal, it just means a lot of people are dealing with it.
