Ever found yourself resisting change even when it’s something you wanted? A new job, a healthier routine, a fresh start... and yet, there’s discomfort, doubt, or even fear.

That’s because change, even positive change, asks us to step outside our comfort zone. It disrupts our familiar patterns, and the brain interprets “new” as “uncertain.” And uncertainty?
That’s often read as danger.

Our nervous system prefers what’s predictable even if it’s not ideal.
We grieve the old while adjusting to the new.

ATIC’s Story

ATIC Psychological and Counselling Center originated out of Singapore, opening its doors in 2010. Our founders, Sara Powell and Theresa Ng, opened the center in order to educate, promote and provide Psychotherapy – with a specialization in Expressive Therapies – services to the community. Their shared passion for the Arts and therapeutic practices brought ATIC Psychological and Counselling Center to life.

We are a social impact community driven company built on the intention of expanding the social care sector, diversifying the services (Art and Expressive Therapies) currently available in the UAE. The drive to do so can be linked to Founder Sara Powell’s heavy connections and love for the region, having grown up in Dubai and having family – through marriage – from the UAE and Gulf.
