Laughter Yoga is a revolutionary idea- simple and profound. An exercise routine that is sweeping the world and is a complete wellbeing workout. The brainchild of Dr. Madan Kataria, a physician from Mumbai, India,launched the first Laughter Yoga Club at a pak on March 13, 1995, with merely five persons. Today it has become a worldwide phenomenonwith more than 6000 Social Laughter Yoga Clubs in about 70 countries. Laughter Yoga combines Unconditional Laughter with Yogic Breathing(Pranayama). Anyone can laugh for No Reason, without relying on humor, jokes or comedy. Laughter is simulated as a body exercise in a group; with eye contact and chillike playfulness, it soon turns into real and contagious laughter. The concept of Laughter Yoga is based on a scinetific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake and real laughter. One gets the same physiological and psychological benefits. Laughter Yoga clubs are fast growing into a worldwide community of like-minded people who believe in unconditional Love, Laughter and Fellowship. In the year 2000, nearly 10,000 people laughed together in Copenhagen, Denmark to set a Guinness Book Record.

This has never felt more true to me than in leadership.
When I think back to the people who led me, I don’t remember their KPIs or perfect slide decks. I remember how calm they made the room feel.

How they smiled even through the chaos.
How I felt safe to be myself around them.
That’s the kind of leader I try to be now. Not perfect. Not polished. But present, and joyful.

Let’s normalize that.
Let’s normalize happy leaders.

So… is this like a yoga thing or a feelings thing?” Someone asked me that five minutes before our session started, half-joking, half-concerned, fully unsure what they’d walked into.

Honestly? It was a fair question. Because this wasn’t your usual leadership session.
There were no frameworks. No icebreakers. No “let’s go around and say our name and title.”

What was there?
→ Some laughter that came from the gut
→ A few quiet moments that hit harder than words
→ A lot of people slowly dropping the version of themselves they think they're supposed to be

That question stuck with me, though. Yoga thing or feelings thing? Neither, really. And both. We don’t need more leaders trying to have all the answers. We need the ones who know how to actually be there.

Leaders who listen. Who stay calm when things get messy. Who don’t rush to fix or control.

Melbourne may be chilly this time of year, but my heart’s warm.

Being here is always a mix of reconnecting, with family, yes, but also with myself. There’s something about returning to familiar rituals that fill me up.

My annual Pilates classes at KX Glenwood are one of those things I look forward to, moving, stretching, feeling strong, and meeting new people along the way. (Grateful as always to Laughter Yoga for helping me strike up conversations with ease)

It’s not about doing something big. Just moving a little, laughing a little, and remembering that keeping my energy full helps me show up better, for everyone and everything I care about.

Just got back from an unreal week at IMD Business School in Lausanne, and what an experience it’s been!

The High Performance Leadership program wasn’t your usual “sit back and study other people’s wins” kind of course.
➡️ This time, I was the case study.
➡️ It was intense, raw, eye-opening—and exactly what I didn’t know I needed.

I went in playing it safe. I came out playing to win.
Over just four transformative days, I challenged old patterns, sharpened my leadership vision, and reconnected with what truly drives me.

Remember Titanic? That moment when the ship hits the iceberg and everything changes—chaos, confusion, and the sinking feeling that nothing is going back to the way it was? That’s what being stuck can feel like. Not because you're doomed, but because your internal blueprint just hit something real. Unexpected. Inevitable.

But here’s the part we don’t talk about: Jack and Rose didn’t grow by staying safe in the ballroom. They grew when the ship started sinking. When everything they thought was solid began to break. That’s where clarity showed up. That’s where the story changed.

Being stuck isn’t the end, it’s the plot twist. The turning point. The part where you start realising that maybe the life you’ve been building needs to shift. Maybe you’ve outgrown the version of you who wanted that first-class seat in the first place.

In 2012, during a freezing Russian winter, I stood in a room full of strangers and asked them to laugh—not at jokes, but simply for the joy of it. What started as hesitation soon turned into unfiltered laughter, breaking the ice and filling the room with positivity. That magical moment landed me on the front page of Moscow News under the headline “Laugh with Anju,” marking the beginning of an incredible journey.

Looking back, I’m reminded of how powerful laughter can be—it helps us let go, break out of our shells, and reconnect with joy.
